Morrowin on PC or Xbox

Post » Tue Oct 20, 2009 6:45 am

So I have played morrowind on my PC when it first came out. With Skyrim coming out this year I wanted to start up morrowind again. Alas, the disk is now broken. I would like to know your opinion on whether I should buy a new morrowind for the xbox or PC. Keep in mind I have a laptop that isnt the best at gaming but can run Oblivion on low graphics.

If you can run it at a decent frame rate, I would say PC. Not for the graphic mods or the huge landmasses, but just for the bugfix patches I think it's worth it.

PC, if you can handle Oblivion on your laptop, you can easily handle Morrowind on your laptop. And mods give you endless play options which make the PC version awesome.

My sister-in-law has the XBox version and I was astonished at how long the load times were - I imagine your PC will give you the better experience.

I started playing Morrowind on the 360, then got it for the computer. Load times are almost unbearably long on the 360, and at times the frame rate would just tank. The availability of mods and patches also help to make the PC a better choice. My computer can't run Oblivion well at all, and I have no problems with Morrowind, even with mods.

I say get it on your laptop. Only get it on xbox, if you have no other choice. I had a hard time to go back to the 360 to play Morrowind, and actually prefer my laptop now. Before I was xbox all the way, but when you are use to something, it's hard to go back. I just find it so harsh on the 360 now.

I can only agree with what others have said here. PC is the way to go. The patches, the mods, lesser loading time, the console commands all make it a better choice.

I'm going to be the black sheep and say get both. If you get the PC version get a couple of princess stompers mods and a few house mods such as arwens house mod. I just re-started playing the Xbox version because i found it and OMG is playing morrowind with a controller feel weird to me after playing the PC version for about 2 years. BTW don't become addicted like the rest of us with mods. Download enough mods to have fun with.

yeah the 360 version of morrowind is astonishingly bad, verging on near unplayable. The framerates, even in some interiors, regularly drops to about 10-15 fps. I think it's sad, as I bet loads of oblivion fans who are 360 owners have naturally tried the 360 version, and have been met with a very very poor representation of what the game actually is. It was trying to play it on 360 that eventually made me give in and buy it for pc.

Everything about the PC version is better. If your computer/laptop can run Oblivion at all, you won't have an issue with Morrowind. I have a pretty cheap laptop and I've been running Morrowind fine for the past few months, no complaints.

Have both and PC version is by far better. Even if you manage to crack an Xbox (which is illegal) you still cannot really mod it becuz Morrowind on Xbox about maxes it out on its specs (memory, FPS, etc). The Xbox barely handles it normally, and the bugfixes for PC make the game work properly and more stable.

There really is no comparison. Morrowind Xbox = duplo, Morrowind PC = Lego

This last week, I was playing on the 360. I had to quit, because for what ever reason, I can't have interior maps. Other people are not having this problem, but for me, it's a game killer because it's so easy to get lost and if there is no interior map or when in the outside world, no local map, I wouldn't be able to find what I am looking for. So I went back to PC. I love the mods, but Vanillia xbox Morrowind is great too. Just too bad I had my problem of not having no local map.

Maybe if I find another copy of Morrowind GotY, I will try it, but maybe it's my own 360. Just got an idea, going to try my sons 360, and see if it's my 360 or the disk it's self.

Well when I first tried Morrowind, it was on Xbox 360 and I couldn't play for 10 minutes without crashing.

I am loving my mods that I downloaded. I guess playing over 400 hours on Xbox, the mods made it refreshing to play now. Tamriel Rebuilt is just awsome, it doubled the size of Morrowind. I can't wait to get there and explore it now.

I am a long time xbox player. I can't use the keyboard or mouse so I went out and got a controller to play on the PC. It's a bit different, but now am getting use to it, and I love it now. Espically after someone (sorry forgot your name) game me a link to what mods to use. Before I would say xbox, but now with the mods, I have, I have to say PC.
