You're close on the Mages guild part, but it's not Edwinna. Baladas (the Telvanni guy in Gnisis) can translate the books, but he's not the other guy interested in them.

yea i agree, mehrunes razor fits the bill, made by dagon, used by he brotherhood and its daedric in origin

EDIT: i just re-read his hint and it says WE so its a group of weapons not one, so i guess it cant be mehrunes razor
