Morrowind Argonian vs Oblivion Argonian

Some argonians may wear heavy armor because of their personality.

But, you're right that scales act as natural armor.

Morrowind, definitely because in morrowind they were like half lizard half human where as in Oblivion they are like 90 percent human and 10 percent lizard.

Idea: a constant 25% (or 10% if it needs to be nerfed) resistance to mundane weapons as an Argonian racial trait.

Something like that, or resistance to piercing, specifically would be ideal for scales.

But I guess it depends on how damage is done.

Or a constant +1 or 2 to armor rating.

I would like a mix of both. A tad less humanoid, digitigrade and with claws, but not as much as it was in Morrowind. There the legs were a bit too weird.

The whole aspect of "weird" was one of my favourite aspects of Morrowind. From Argonian style to Dunmer lore to Morrowind flora.

Also, am I the only one who liked the Argonian animations? I loved how I look so beastial, even when I run. I love how I swim like a fish. I especially love how awesome I look when weilding a spear. ^_^

I don't see why Bethesda can't add a small option for both. I think I should be able to choose Morrowind or Oblivion style with both Argonians and Khajiit. (Too many forms can just get quite unesseccary when it's not that race's province)

I liked MW animations too, though just remembering them I think Beth should fix the craps-his-pants effect.
As for selection there should be Tall / Short options for racial stature anyway. So Bestial / Upright for the Argonians and Khajiit?

I liked all the cheesy walking in Morrowind. But it was all very cheesy.

I personily like the oblivion ones better because the looked better and sounded better

Definatley Morrowind. Anyone who voted for oblivion simply because of boots and closed helms needs a slap on the palm and a stern talking to. That was just devo's being lazy on their part, since boots can easily be turned into leggings, and closed helms stretched. Even then, it was more realistic than the "head crushing" thing that closed helms did to beast races in Oblivion.

Other than that, yes, the animations were akward, but you can't go on just that. You have to go by the overall model and structure. You'd honestly have to be a hokerr to think Oblivion's argonians made any sense.

Tack Arena and Daggerfall onto there, too. Their builds were more or less the same as Oblivion's, if not more anthropomorphic. Just sayin'.

Arena's were literally people with scaly lips. And Daggerfall's looked like reptiles, to me.

Daggerfall's Argonians seemed to have the potential to be pretty bestial ala Morrowind, to me. I mean, you can't really decide how a character moves, because of a picture like that, can you? Morrowind Argonians could stand like that. It was one of thier idle animations, I believe.

Besies, the lore was hardly fleshed out in Arena and Daggerfall, tbh.

Well, who knows. I always thought Arena and Daggerfall's Argonians had more or less the same body-type, with the main differences being in the head. That being said, the "humanoid body with a reptilian head and tail" is the closest thing this race has to a precedent. Not that I wouldn't support a move towards a more bestial posture in the next installment, of course...

Well, the Arena one has no tail.

I think they were literally people in the game. Not reptiles at all.

Play both Arena and Daggerfall to an extend and I can definitely say they are NOT the same. Arena fit toward more of those crappy Sci-fi Humanoid with scale on their face with no tail at all. Not a resemblance of a true reptiles. Daggerfall fit more in a profiles of actual lizards with the lizard tail, head, body scale and all. Heck, it potentially have claws (their fist is closed) and with a little detail, talons as well.

I'm with you on this - I loved the "hot sand" walking animation used by the beast races. It felt so quirky and unique, and it certainly looked better than the man/mer animation.
