[REL] Morrowind Containers Animated

Post » Sat Sep 22, 2012 12:19 pm

MW Containers Animated v1.0

This mod adds open/close animation to almost all containers that should have animation. Only 4 models are not animated:contain_de_crate_logo, contain_com_hutch_01, contain_pot_01, contain_couldron10. Meshes are by Phaedrus and Arcimaestro Anteres, based on Bethesda's meshes.
Both expansions are required.
If you wanna see all animated containers in one room type in the console "coc "mournhold temple"".
You can include this mod in your mod if you want. And I think guys who made animated models wont mind it either.

Bugs:

After you uninstall this mod you should clean your savegames. Otherwise you won't be able to open any containers that you opened while playing with this mod. To clean your savegames download tes3cmd from here: http://code.google.com/p/mlox/downloads/list , copy it into your Morrowind/saves folder and run clean_MWCA_savegames.bat.

If after reloading you notice that containers that you opened are closed you should exit the game and load your savegame from main menu.

Changelog:

v 0.9
First release.

v 1.0
Added crates, barrels, sacks.
Animation speed is faster (not for dwemer objects since they are heavy, rusty).
New scripts. (Almost) no savegame bloating now.
Containers stay open after you activate them so you can see if you opened them before. To close them you have to activate them again.

This is a totally awesome mod, i will forever use this!

Could you also make a version where its more like in Skyrim, so that the containers open less wide and the animations are quicker?

As i said i love this but there are some problems for me:
  • game always crashes when alt+tab back in the game in "mournhold temple" (where all the containers are)
  • "rufinius_alleius_chest" and "com_hutch_1" dont have animations, i dont know if they are supposed to have them
  • the doors of the steel dwemer closed are not attached properly: http://s1.directupload.net/file/d/3007/n4ti468c_jpg.htm
Tested on a vanilla installation + MCP & MGEXE.

Morrowind isn't designed for alt-tabbing, so I wouldn't blame the mod for that.

Thanks for this, qqqbbb! :goodjob:

Alt+tabbing from other cells crashes the game too?
"rufinius_alleius_chest" and "com_hutch_1" are not animated.

Seen this bug report in the MGSO v3.0 private test :

chaosapiant666 :
think I found the cause of the barter/crash bug! I believe it is tied to the Animated Chests mod. I unchecked that ESP, and for the life of me could not get Arrille to crash on me during the barter menu. Maybe there is an already updated version of this mod? I know it was just released not too long ago.

Edit: So, I removed the animchests.esp and the game no longer has this bug. I installed the newest version of Morrowind Animated Chests, and the bug returns. The ESPs have different names, but i'm sure it's the same mod, and that mod seems to be what is causing the issue. Can anyone else confirm this?

never even saw the poll at the top. i voted no, simply because all the animation was in oblivion was it put a hand print on the crate or barrel, which really isnt necessary. i think maybe for crates a sliding lid would be ok, but if you notice not all crates in the game are stacked straight up, some are stacked on one another, and some sunken in ships and floating around. that would cause some clipping, and while im sure it also causes some for chests i think thats an ok exception because theres only a few chests that are stacked beneath rubble or in really odd spots. crates and even barrels, not so much. but either way im still goin to use it hahaha

I actually may have had this bug a couple of days ago. Can't say for sure because I had some other newly installed mods too that may have been the culprit. Anyway, my game kept crashing when I would barter with the pawnshop in Balmora. I haven't had any crashes so far today with this new version though.

I like them a lot, although crates and barrels will clip a lot all over the place because they usually have stuff on top of them - or are just positioned rather close to other objects. Still nice work though.

I've also been wondering if these container animations are going to be applied to smoothed mesh variants eventually for items that have them available. Some items that pop to mind as having smoothed variants are barrels, baskets, the common chests, sacks, and urns.

baskets and urns have already been smoothed in this mods. I'll smooth also the barrels.

The bulbous shaped sacks are kinda funny. They end up looking something like an organic pod opening up or being made of some type of elastic material. Not sure if anything could be done about that seeing as the vanilla mesh starts off with them looking like a tapered end rather than the tied off bag opening they were trying to convey. I'd actually be in favor of keeping those sacks without the animation. The other standing sack looks great.

As far as the clipping issue with the crates and barrels -- I'm on the fence. I'd have to play the game for a bit and decide if it become too jarring to warrant the added bonus of the animation. I might just get used to it like the other clipping that goes on in the game that I ignore.

Anyway, all in all this is great stuff.
