Hmm, I was thinking more along the lines of Pathfinder/D&D.
One problem, or difference, would be skills and leveling. In TES you get experience in a particular skill, by using that specific skill. In many other rpgs, you get ('generic') xp for doing things.
When you level up in TES, you get to improve your stats. In most other rpgs, when you level up you get to improve your skills, maybe choose a feat, and maybe occasionally improve a stat.
So those seem to be the big challenges.
Then there's the combat system. How would you resolve attacks? I guess I could use the UESP wiki as a place to get the TES 'formulae' for resolving combat. Probably I'd end up using percentage die for most of those rolls, and try to simplify the formula for ease of use.
But at a basic level, I guess I could take an existing base game, like Pathfinder, and adjust some of the skills, change the spell lists....
Oh, and classes! An easy thing to do would be to use the premade classes as a base, but it might be better to pick a non-class rpg like GURPs (I think) to figure that out.
It would also be neat to see how the races could get translated into gameplay for a tabletop.
It might be fun to run a campaign set someplace that hasn't been visited by the game developers yet... someplace like mainland Morrowind. Otherwise, the players would know just where to get the best loot right off the bat!
Well, I'll give it some more thought ... but I'm interested to see if anyone has any other ideas!
