[WIP] Morrowind's Epic Ladies (M.E.L.)

Post » Tue May 08, 2012 9:54 am

They are just gorgeous. BTW, the dark shadows on the skins in some of the pics are caused by a combination of hair and MGE XE. I believe it was addressed in the MGE thread, with a reference back to your hair thread, Mel. Ignore me if those are just older screenshots from before the issue was discovered.

I'm so glad you decided to keep working on this!

Oh, i didn't see that, I'll check it out ASAP. I've literally been working on this for like a day and a half so definitely not old screenies. If they addressed it in an update or something that will be amazing, and if it's something I can do to fix it, well, less amazing, but I'll do my best. :D Thanks as always for the tips<3

dunmer eye color variants (for those of us who love playing genetic anomalies) - http://i.imgur.com/dO0bK.jpg
dunmer blue eyes - http://i.imgur.com/YA7ma.jpg
dunmer with "ashen" skin - http://i.imgur.com/mFLn9.jpg

^ Feedback needed on these. Need to know which ones to include in release if any.
I really, really like the alternate eye color; my current character is a Dunmer with green eyes, so I appreciate the choice, even if it isn't lore correct! I like the "ashen" skin, as well, I think it would also make a great vampire face.

Looks like ashen is the winner. Heh, for a race I wasn't even going to put in this pack, I'm spending a ton of time in this Dunmer. That's fine though, you guys (and the Morrowind community of years past) have helped me out a lot and it's time to give something back. @_@

How many faces for each race are you planning on releasing, Meldiocre? I'm looking to replace the NPCs in my game and would need about a dozen or so of any given race to do so. I really really really (did I mention really) want to change the Dunmer females because I'm not enamored with how Vvardenfell Visages did it.

Um, gosh.. ok, the thing is.. I'm working with one head mesh. It's like my first love, the only one I really enjoy, and I haven't found another that comes close. Let's be honest, there's only so much you can do with ONE head. If you like my style of faces and you know of a head mesh you think looks good, shoot me a link to the pack that contains it and it'll give me the ability to have some more variety.

I was going to do faces until I ran out of ideas, source material, or available tweaks. I don't want everything to look totally the same, and the faces already look similar (which is unavoidable and I don't mind it anyway).

I'm going to completely stay away from beast races and orcs, I think, but for the "pretty" races I was going to do about 4 faces per. But.. I mean.. There's no actual reason I was going to stop there, except for the above limitations.

Are you saying you'd need 12 Dunmer? I'd definitely need some other head meshes for that.

Updated with my first attempt at a Nord. If she looks familiar, it's because the source material comes from the same model that Harborgolfer did at one point, but I couldn't find his texture, the link to it was broken - so I made my own. Sorry if anyone has a problem with this, but she's honestly too pretty to not be a Nord in my game.

I think HG used a lot of Better Heads. I'd go with those. Also, Emma's faces are resources, so I think you can use her meshes as a base as well. With either, just rename them, give credit, and you should be good to go.

The updated dark elf pictures are great, Meldiocre.
My favorite is http://i.imgur.com/YA7ma.jpg. The eye lashes are beautiful. Her skin even looks natural. I prefer the lore-correct red/burgundy eyes, myself.
The red eyed one you have http://i.imgur.com/PvNNd.jpg is good but her lips look too painted and it seems to be smeared towards her right side (our left side); kind of off-center. Her nose, in my opinion, is a little too narrow, kinda like Michael Jackson's nose. But everybody has their own nose preference so I'll leave that alone. The eyes actually look more like a brownish red rather than a blood red or dark burgundy. But I'm sure you can easily change the eye color to any shade or hue you want in Photoshop. The skintone is very good.
What program are you using, by the way?

Thanks for the feedback guys. So happy people are enjoying this.

I'll take new screens of the fixed lips. They're centered now and I can try to blend them a bit to make them look less painted. Did you see these? http://i.imgur.com/qpvdS.jpg
There's a red option, but the brown eyes are default for this head. I just thought they looked too cool to pass up. I can of course change them to a more blood red to keep it lore-friendly. Any Dunmer heads I make will always have at least one red eye option.

I'm using max and Photoshop. I have Blender but haven't messed with it yet.

edit - Ok, I just made a few minor adjustments.. http://i.imgur.com/opB71.jpg Getting better? Worse?

The thing with the lips is ahh.. *mumbles something about not keeping PSD files* sooo.. kind of hard to fix it.. :x

I have to admit, I like both eye shades, both the darker red of the last picture and the brownish-red of the first. Not that I'm trying to demand a million options, here... :whistling: Seriously, I think both have a really great look, I love the color you are getting for the eyes in all the Dunmer pictures.

The lips look better in the last picture; I can't from what you wrote above if you fixed it, or if it's just something about the angle, but it looks more balanced. Not that I have the most discerning eye, I admit.

Edit: I really like your new Norn face as well, although I have to admit, I can't quite tell from the screenshot what the skin texture will look like in game. The picture on the bottom left seems very pale, but I am guessing that might be the lighting and not the actual color?

Yeah, I "fixed" the lips as best I could with not having the PSD file because I'm disorganized as hell. The Nord face's skin tone is the same as the first 3 faces I did, and it doesn't exactly match the Nord body because that skin tone is my custom race. I'll have to make it a little darker. It looks really pretty in game though, I hate to say that about my own work, but I'm really fond of it. ;x She's definitely pale but the bottom left is like DIRECT morning sun, so she won't really look like that all the time. I'll adjust it nonetheless.

Here's a screen of her with the matching body.. http://i.imgur.com/5rNWU.jpg Like I said in my first post, this isn't going to be to everyone's taste. I think the too-pale, childlike, vulnerable look is really pretty sometimes, and this is one of those times. She's staying in, executive decision. D:<

Cute outfit on the pale custom race. I like pale skin, too. Are all those rings she is wearing actual rings in her inventory? Or is that just part of the body mesh?
The dark elf looks good, Meldiocre. I would like to see http://i.imgur.com/5R8Jd.jpg as a dark elf, though, if you would. She has lovely innocent features to her face.

Please, call me Mel. :D

And sure, I'll make her a delf in the release. Shouldn't be too hard, bit of blending and tweaking. The rings on her fingers are a modder's resource called "finger rings", you have to set it up yourself for your character's skintone. I deleted some of the rings but overall I like rings and long fingernails so it works out.

You're right, that one does look really innocent. I think somebody else asked for it as a dark elf too, so I'm more than happy to do it. I'll work on it tomorrow.

Original lips were better I would say.. so lively and daring.

That's 2 different faces, though. I'm still keeping them both. I was just asking if the second face's lips were better or worse.

I personally also prefer the 1st, pinkish ones. :) But both are awesome!

There's a lack of defining shadow and surface curvature around the bottom lip of second set that make them look painted on. They also seem to have a lot of contrast compared to the rest of the face.
