Morrowind Expanded -- Mods aren't loading

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:23 pm

So I recently reinstalled morrowind and decided to follow the Morrowind Expanded mod list http://morrowind2009.wordpress.com/. At first, I crashed when exiting the ship's hatch at the beginning, but after disabling distant lands on mge, I got past the hatch just fine. So the game seems to be working, but from what I can tell, none of the mods are loading properly. I don't get better heads or bodies, and all graphics are exactly the same as vanilla. I get the MGE white text while starting the game, so I would assume that MGE is at least recognizing the game properly, and I should be getting enhanced water effects, etc. All the esm files are enabled from the boot menu, and I'm running the morrowind exe as an administrator. Any ideas why none of my mods should be working? I've installed pretty much everything from the Morrowind Expanded list.

I do not recommended that 'guide'. It links to several versions of mods that are obsolete or in languages not intended for people using the US version of Morrowind without a warning. I'd suggest ticking off absolutely everything that you installed from that guide and seeing if your game will run then. If it does you can add one mod back in at a time until you find out exactly which mod is borking your game.

edit - to replace emphasis on recommendation to myself.

Looking back on it, I actually skipped a chunk of mods on there, most notably the tamriel rebuilt section. I mainly don't see why MGE and the texture mods don't appear to be working at all.

Upon checking my mod list, I realized that literally none of the mods were listed. I've since reinstalled everything, but running everything as an administrator, including the morrowind launcher, and it all seems to be loading properly. Now the only problem is that the new grass meshes seem to be blocking my path.

Grass is not ment to be loaded through the launcher, esp's are ment to be used with MGE's distant land only and disabled in game.
