Simple, don't make it like Oblivion. Not that Oblivion was a bad game but Morrowind seemed to capture everything I could have ever asked for in an RPG.

Well for me, my love of Morrowind is based off of an unfamiliar world and lots of politics. Bethesda has awesomely included those things in Skyrim.

I agree. I've never actually played Morrowind because I was too young when it came out to know what it was, but I've watched some lets plays of it and it does have a much more magical feel than Oblivion.

Indeed, morrowind just had this great, home-town, tribal feeling, it was such a glorious experience.

Anyway, They could recreate this feeling by..... hmmmm........ taking out fast travel, put in lots of armor, no voice acting, lots of weapons, oh wait, by recreating morrowind itself!

I don't think it's possible to give skyrim a morrowind feel, it shouldn't anyway, it should have its own feeling.

They should go back to being able to change your pouldrons (Shoulder Armor) separate from the rest of your armor for starters.

Hopefully. Civil war can be great for some political conflict, but we dont know that they will take advantage of it for that purpose. The unfamiliar world wont be on par with MW, but it is a step in the right direction (and thats away from OB).

Im not expecting to feel like I did playing MW, nothing will bring that back, but I am expecting a new kind of feeling for when I play SR and its going to be awesome :)

I agree. Every NPC in Skyrim should have the same greeting set as Fargoth.

Oblivion is 5 years old, why don't I feel nostalgic towards it? Because while Oblivion was a very good game, Morrowind was a masterpiece.

Wormboy got you there, Morrowind was set in another land populated by another bunch of elves (at least these guys could be pretty cool guy from time to time), and the music is elfy so that was what was needed for Morrowind. Skyrim's version of the music is great. No changes.

THE HAPPYCAT GUY HAS SPOKEN.

See, I'm a little too young to have really gotten into morrowind (I was 12ish first time I tried it, it was a little too complex and I never really got into it), but I know I have a hard time connecting to a game world if it is TOO different than my own. To me, the giant mushrooms, giant tick looking things I used to fast travel was a little too much for me. i can see it as being a totally person by person thing so I'm not saying it was BAD, it just wasn't my cup o' tea

I super-agree. This has nothing to do with nostalgia for my part. Morrowind was just a much better RPG, with a much better feeling and atmosphere that Oblivion never ever achieved.
Oblivion still wasn't bad. It was very good. But like you said, Morrowind was a masterpiece. As simple as that. The end, for my part.

I was also 12 when I started Morrowind. I also never had problems following the directions for quests in the journal, so I don't know why people complain about that. If a 12 year old can figure out Morrowind just fine, surely the people who buy a Mature rated game can too.

because morrowind was your first elder scrolls game am i right? naturally a first of any good experience holds a special place in ones heart.meaning you probably would be saying the same about oblivion had it been your first elder scrolls game. believe me i love morrowind as much as anyone i just dont want people to dwell in the past blind to anything else

One obvious thing that would really help is the whole vibe of being 'a stranger in a strange land'

Being dropped on by ship, on the edge of the map, in small, drab village was a good start. Then sense of being completely at sea, not really knowing what to do, and being completely overmatched against virtually all hostile creatures...

Compare that to Oblivion where you had a very 'hand holding' tutorial, then emerge from the sewers only a short walk to the main city in the whole province.

I hope Skyrim matches Morrowind by having a developed culture, including religion, politics, social relationships, history, and morality. Oblivion didn't have religion until Knights of the Nine.. It existed, but was not really developed enough until then.

Trust me it's not nostalgia. I can tell you every reason why I think Morrowind is a better game. But that's just my opinion, I know some people like Oblivion better. What I hope Skyrim is doing is appealing to both audiences.

There's no such thing as a better game. Its impossible to be unbias about it. Its all opinion. I can't stomach Morrowind. Its a horrible game from where I'm sitting. The only thing it had going for it was exploration and a half decent story. Played it through once with one guy and never picked it up again, because it left that bad of a taste in my mouth.

Oblivion on the other hand was actually fun to play.

Morrowind is a great game, but I had 0 fun playing it after I explored everywhere. Oblivion is a masterpiece, but it obviously isn't for everyone. So enough of this bloody rivalry. They're both great games. One isn't better than the other. They're both sitting pretty at great, and its opinion that makes it a masterpiece or not.

That theme bought up annoyance in me as that theme plays freaking everywhere in the game! That is not something I would associate with Morrowind...
