Morrowind Great Houses

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:35 pm

But Hlaalu are greedy bastards with no honour, who break deals and cheat customers if there's an advantage. They resort to thuggery if they can't legitimately beat their competitors products as well.

House Hlaalu is despicable, I find their organization offensive to the ideal of basic courtesy and self-responsability.

I would say that they are equally as heartless as the Telvanni, but they are much worse because their actions affect many more people and they know it.

Its business

Dwemer are dead, Dagoth are mutated and stuff, Telvanni are crazy, Indoril are fanatics, Dres are slavers and Redoran are just plain dull. It's not really much of a choice...and it shows in the poll results too :grad:

What shows in the poll results is that none of the Great Houses suits all players and that Bethesda were right to include choice. If anything more choice would've been better. Hlaalu was the preferred choice of just a third (roughly) of those who have voted.

What I find funny is that the Telvanni is probably the most truthful of all the houses. If they don't like you, you'll know it, and if they want something, they'll let you know it. With Redoran, they cowardly hide behind an outer layer of "honor" when in reality that house is completely full of rot on the inside. Hlaalu are just opportunistic businessmer who follow the almighty septim/drake, and will lie, cheat, swindle and push for more monies. Can't say much about Dres and Indoril, other than Indoril is over the top fanatics, and Dres is a house who sticks to the old ways (ancestor worship), especially the slavery part.

Well, they're not humans, so using businessmen would mean they're humans, which they are not.

None - my characters tend to oppose the Dunmer Great Houses.

Though, I suppose I'd choose Telvanni for their individualism and ambition.

Dres. I don't see what's wrong with slavery. They're only filthy lizards. They might as well be of some use on a plantation instead of splashing around in the mud licking gunk off trees. The Hlaalu are greedy hypocrites. They commit all kinds of underhand and immoral deeds, yet condem slavery at the behest of their Imperial paymasters not on the strength of some misguided moral virtue, but on the strength of the Imperial septim.

I chose Hlaalu because that is where my alligences normally lie. I like all the Houses though for different reasons so it really would depend on my character. In fact, I am the founder of http://forums.uesp.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=21593. (if your ever in the neighbourhood and want to show your alligence or if you a diehard Hlaalu fan, you should check it out.)

Hlaalu are a happy medium between the other houses and they stand for forward thinking (something I pride the Chimer on) and acceptance. I don't agree with all of Helseth's Imperial hugging policies, but on the whole acceptance is not a terrible thing.

A close Second would be the more traditional and noble Indroil, but unfortunately they weren't joinable in Morrowind and I have a lesser attachment to them as a result. They'd be my first choice for a Dunmer traditionalist though. ;)

Actually, what is the Beth. Forums stance on Forum groups? There seems to be a fair number of Hlaalu supporters here as well. :)

Edit: Know it's been over half a year since this thread has been posted in, but many people are still playing Morrowind, yes?

That's quite the bump, Duruza. :P

But regardless, this a good topic, so I'll help keep it alive.

Out of those listed, my ideals line up quite nicely with the Dwemer. Out of the joinable Great Houses, though, I pick House Telvanni. I like the way they run things, my only real problem is their stance on slavery.

I guess Hlaalu since they seem the least assholish from what I've heard.

Telvanni for me. Thousands years old mages who live in mushroom towers? What can be better!

Hell yeah!

The Telvanni have always tickled my fancy.

House Hlaalu.

1. The Alchemist in Skingrad is a Hlaalu outcast.
2. The House Hlaalu gives you = 10x better then Telvani and Redoran.
3. They have alot more....story oriented instead of boredom.

Although, I liked Stealing one of the "Rooms" in the back of House of Redoran inside the Emperor Crab Husk. Redoran is filled with great warriors, Hlaalu is your Talkers (Stealth), and Telvanni is your Mages.

You have a very wrong idea of how House Dagoth works, my friend :)
And yes, I'll be the first one to vote this XD Dagoth Ur is one of the most misunderstood, poor people in TES lore ^^

Well said. ;) **proudly selects the Dagoth button**

My character has never used a weapon as crude as a club and she is one of the best dressed, if not the best dressed, person in all of Morrowind. ;)

Redoran. Hlaalu were backstabbers, EVERY Telvanni I met I hated, I can only remember Indoril by thinking 'we're watching you... scum', Dres, from what I hear, are slave traders, Dagoth tried to kill me, and Dwemer have all died out. Redoran are the only ones that seem to have some sort of honour.

And I just had a small revelation. EVERYONE in Morrowind is crazy. And that's why the world is so brilliant.

I like the Ashlanders.

As for Great Houses, I voted Telvanni. But I like them all. ;)
