I know that Better Bodies are sort of... a taboo at least in here.
Hope it's not in the way to interview their authors...
Neumann, Sativarg and Fariel. And the whole BB team.
Well, thanks for remembering us!
It's actually Neuman, Zenorf, and Fariel.
When we made Better Bodies, we conceived it primarily for modders to use as a base to make new races and new apparel, allowing different cuts of clothing, new styles of underwear, see-through blouses and dresses, etcetera. For that reason, we chose to release it as an unclothed mod option. (For players who needed permanent undies, we had several of those versions also.) At the time, it wasn't such a taboo subject in the Bethesda community--not too long after Daggerfell and the topless Kajiits, remember? In the original Morrowind, there is allusion to nudity in the Nord quest and elsewhere; there are Berserkers who get too worked up, apparently, for clothing but not for undies; and Dreamers who seemed to have lost their inhibitions enough to shed their clothing--all except their underwear, which they retain presumably because they are permanenty glued on. We felt that an unclothed game body was in keeping with the original spirit and vision of Morrowind, but that Bethesda could not supply that for business reasons.
Anyway, we have sent over a million downloads of Better Bodies now, which means it must be one of the best loved mods of all time, in any game. I believe we breathed new life into Morrowind and that modders have prolonged its useful life. I doubt that discussion of Better Bodies is really officially taboo here. Really, members of the Bethesda crew have always been kind and supportive.
