Morrowind Mods IRC channel

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 8:37 pm

agreed, i talk to the guys on skyrim but adding people can be a pain if we try to talk about skyrim, so a proper one for us to use would be great, MAKE ONE FOR US PLEASE?
Alright.

irc://irc.chatspike.net/Morrowind
http://widget.mibbit.com/?settings=432adae4d9ef419c53ccb554b2ed6baa&server=irc.chatspike.net&channel=%23morrowind
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_IRC_clients is a list of IRC clients if you don't already have one and would like to use something that is not browser-based
Alternatively, Fliggerty has a client set up http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/tesirc.php, but you'll need to be a member of his site.

It is on irc.chatspike.net, the channel name is #morrowind.
I strongly recommend you register whatever nickname you decide to use.

How to register an IRC nickname:
First, to change your nickname simply type "/nick" followed by a space and the nickname you would like to use. Example: "/nick Enzo"
Type: /msg nickserv register DESIREDPASSWORD YOUREMAIL
Replace "DESIRED PASSWORD" with the password you would like to use, replace YOUREMAIL with a working email address
Hit enter.
Identifying with your new nickname: Every time you join the network, you will need to "identify" or "log in" to your nickname. Simply type "/msg nickserv identify YOURPASSWORD"

NOTE: DO NOT FORGET TO TYPE THE SLASH (/) EVERY TIME YOU IDENTIFY AND WHEN YOU REGISTER.

Please feel free to use this channel to discuss any mod you are working on. Feel free to discuss ideas for mods, too, or to discuss Morrowind in general. Obviously I don't mind if the channel goes off-topic to socialize, the main goal for having an IRC channel is to bring this community closer together.

If you have any questions about IRC, feel free to ask in this thread.

Also:
just a note: /msg nickserv can be simplified to /ns. so /ns register email@mail.com password and /ns identify password will save you some typing :)

You guys should definitely consider getting external clients. Mibit is nice and easy to use, but it is not reliable and is rather feature-bare by nature.

It's a great idea really, but I won't be joining you soon. Actually I prefer msn, that's the place I spend most of my time when I'm using the computer lolz (: Who knows, I might join the party later.

Sounds cool, but I prefer the slow and thoughtful process of crafting posts to the frenetic nature of partial sentences.

That, and I'd make a zillion embarrassing typos if I didn't take the time to make sure my brain isn't having fun with my fingers. There was a newspaper article, the headline was "Greatest Rivals" but my brain filled it in as "Greatest Bivalves."

It isn't that I'm a bad speller, it's just my brain sometimes autocompletes what I'm typing, and uses the wrong word. *sigh*

Another morrowind channel on Chatspike? I'm there.

(I think I should probably also join #Elderscrolls while I am at it)

This is an interesting idea but I'm not sure how many people will want to actually play with it.

It's actually been quite a lot today Jeff. Wolli, Chainy, and SGMonkey were in there from Skyrim today. Several TR modders were there as well as some community figures.

Plenty of people have been around and seems to me that everyone intends to keep it on their autojoins and/or pop in regularly. We've already had some nice discussions. :3

Obviously the success of the channel depends on how many people don't come because of concerns like yours, Jeff.~ The fact that we have a community at all after such a long time after this game's release is fantastic, anyway.

Maybe I will check out the IRC thing sometime. I haven't used IRC since I was probably around 15 or younger though. :S
