Morrowind Mods won't work?

Post » Fri Jul 13, 2012 10:14 pm

I'm new to the modding universe and I can't get mods to work properly...The only thing I have added successfully is the Real Blood mod (which was very easy). Other ones like Abigails Pet Shop I can't get to work properly...I do everything exactly the way it says but it still doesn't work...Error messages like "(insert name here) has no animation class!" then it just closes... Any help? I greatly appreciate it.

What OS are you running (WindowsXP/Vista/Windows7) and what version (retail or Steam) of Morrowind you have installed?

You have to post the contents of the Warnings.txt file (open it in Notepad and select everything before you copy) and that's located in the \Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind folder.

There is two tools that's really necessary if you want to play a modded Morrowind and every of them is essential if you're using mods.

I am using a retail version on Morrowind GOTY edition on Windows XP.

There is no Warnings.txt file i see anywhere in my Morrowind files...but this is what I do have if it is any help:

When I try to start a new game with the Abigails Pet shop plugin i get this message after the opening cinematic: "Model Load Error: Meshes\Creatures\pf_wasp.nif cannot load file in Meshes\Creatures\pf_wasp.nif. Will use the default object Marker_Error.NIF.

Continue running executable?"

When I push yes this warning comes up: "Creature "__wasp200000000" has no animation groups. Morrowind will crash!

Continue running executable?"

When I push yes this warning comes up: "Creature "__wasp200000001" has no animation groups. Morrowind will crash!

Continue running executable?"

When I push yes this warning comes up: "Creature "__wasp200000002" has no animation groups. Morrowind will crash!

Continue running executable?"

When I push yes I get another Model Load Error for "snake_3.NIF" then the animation groups warnings for snake. Then the same thing with dragons and elephants.

Then it continues all the way until I try to go to the Pet Shop. When I get close to it i get this warning In-game: "Actor Animation Problem with "__elephant200000000". This actor has no Animation Class!"
When I push "OK" Morrowind just automatically closes...

I get a similar warning when I try to use the Scenic Travel Silt Strider Mod...

I would say adding the following to the General section of your morrowind.ini file would be a good start:

allowyestoall=1

This will allow you to click once and accept all errors on load. It sounds to me like you are not installing the mods correctly. Please look inside your Data Files folder to see if there is another Data Files folder embedded inside it. If there is, or if there is a Meshes folder inside the Data Files\Meshes folder then there was a mistake in extracting the archive. The same for Textures, Icons, etc.

It sounds like you haven't installed everything correctly. When you unpacked the mods, did you put everything in the meshes file in the archive into your Data Files\meshes folder? Do you have nested Data Files folders (i.e. Data Files\Data Files\)?

[edit] In other words, what my wife asked. :whistling:

The way I see it that you have only two choices and that's either reinstall the mod or reinstall Morrowind, which I recommend to do the latter.

If this problem began with the Scenic travel Silt Strider mod, then you need to check the file structure of the archive and perhaps repackage it. Some mods is packed like this.

Scenic travel Silt Strider\Data Files\Icons\Meshes\Textures

If an archive have this structure then it really needs to be repackaged, because without repacking the mod you'll need to manually install the mod which I think aren't necessary.

Sorry I haven't been able to post here at all lately! Been busy  but i'm here now!

OK, I fixed my problem by installing Wrye Mash! It works awesomely  The only problem I have come into, is Better Heads...The ReadMe says it comes with an auto installer, but there is none  When I tried to install it with Wrye Mash it looked like it worked fine, but then when I would start the game it says it can't find any of the head textures and every character is walking around with the "Big yellow blocks" and no heads
Where can I download it with the auto installer??

The readme does say that, but I have never seen an auto-installer for it; however, all you have to do to install it is drag the meshes and textures folder into your data files and merge the folders, drag the esp files into your data files folder, and then enable then check the box for the appropriate .esp files. You don't actually need an installer for this one, it's pretty basic.
