Morrowind now backwards compatible with 360

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:35 am

Ahm, anyone can tell me how to fix the blurry save game icons? All my saves(Platinum Hits on XBOX360), the icons appear blurry. Can I fix that somehow?

Sadly, I dont think you can. On some of my players, the icons seem to 'get better' with time, but with others they stay just as garbled as ever.

This is purely cosmetic, but I can see how it could be irritating if you use the pictures to know where you left off at with multiple saved games. I personally use descriptive text with my saves, so this is not a problem for me.

Platinum hits isn't GOTY

Yes it is. There are both GOTY and non-GOTY for platinum, hence my confusion. (I am still confused)

Wow i just downloaded the update. It's exactly the same as the original xbx version in regards to view settings etc. though now it has some nice smooth AA. though i am still going to stick with my p.c.

what is AA...?

and can anyone tell me if the game plays better on the 360? cause when i got the BC for fable TLC, that game played really badly on the 360.. [it was unstable as all hell, almost constantly freezing and stuff]

The GOTY platinum edition is called Morrowind : Game of the Year Edition, and it also has the platinum hits ribbon thingie.

Even the original version has a little text declaring it won Game of the Year, but that's a little reward sticker, not part of the title.

The biggest giveaway is the symbol in the background.

On the normal Morrowind, it's an Ordinator shield symbol. On the GOTY, a hand is added to the upper left of the upside down triangle, and a wolf's head is added to the upper right corner.

AA, is(dont quote me on this) anti-aliasing and what it is is it takes the little pixel-squares and rounds the edges, so that instead of being all jagged(unless that is the texture you want) it looks smooth and nice.

Or... you know... look at the cover. It says "Game of the Year" edition in large type right underneath the word Morrowind.

ive had this problem before. look at the actual game disc and not the cover. the disc says it too. i got a version that was platinum GotY and the disc was platinum original, now i never trust the idiots that work at the eb games near me.

Well, I've actually started playing it again on the 360, and so far, it seems to work fairly well. Initial load times (when you first load a save game) seem 10X longer then they were, in fact, load times in general seem much longer. FPS is generally the same, and improved in some areas.

I've only had one crash so far, and unfortunately it was after I had completed the Hlaalu and Telvanni Hortator quests and forgot to save. :(

One really odd bug I noticed was in Dwemer ruins. The background noises of machines still operating happen way too often, sometimes even overlapping each other, and they are far more loud then they were on the original Xbox.

It technically should be "forward compatible with 360"(or 360 is backward compatible with Morrowind). What they mean by this is Morrowind which was designed for the original xbox now works for xbox 360 - you use the same disk, just with newer hardware.(the xbox 360 backward compatibilty patch that included Morrowind was a few months ago)

Just found this out.

I was randomly looking through the backwards compatibility list and found Morrowind. Exciting stuff. Too bad I left my copy at home. I guess I'll pick it up when I go home for the holidays.

I might even buy the GOTY edition for Xbox now.

Yupp, it will try to download the compat patch. Of course only a silver membership is required.

A hard drive is also needed, so a Xbox 360 Core won't work.

Playing MW GOTY on my 360, it is great fun! :)
Though I'm trying harder to avoid death since savegame loading is extremely slow. Does anyone else experience this? It is supposedly attributed to the extra content from the expansions but I cannot remember it being this slow on the pc. Area loading times is no problem though, working quite smooth.

If you have Dial-Up, and you have a 360, you can take the regular phone cord, hook it up to the internet on your computer, then get a Cat5 Ethernet cable, put it in your computer and put it in the back of your xbox 360, Register a free account (You can only make so many of these, with Silver membership to get 1 free month of Gold) Now download the auto-updates... this may take a while but well worth it :) and you must have a harddrive for your 360 to play BC games (Backwards Compatible) Goodluck!

What? I have both the classic and goty versions. Both play just fine. Did your 360 download the backcompat patch?

I have never been so thrilled to have a thread locked and told to post somewhere else in my life.

Thanks Rohugh.

Must find me a copy of this game for the XBox now!
