Morrowind or Oblivion theme?

Post » Tue Feb 08, 2011 2:28 pm

I personally like Oblivion's because it is much more triumphant sounding, but Morrowind's reminds me of Narnia a little for some reason. (Not a bad thing) :P What's your thoughts?

I have to say Morrowind, but that's more because I like the slow and peaceful melody. That's not to say that the Oblivion theme isn't amazing; it is. It does rank high in my list of favorite songs.

See, I am more of a battle/triumphant-theme person. (LOL) I like the darker stories and music. (Just like I prefer LOTR over Narnia, because it is much darker in most points.) I am not saying Oblivion's theme was dark, it just seemed more like heavy-classical. :P

I have to say tha as far as theme songs go, I prefer Morrowind's, not that Oblivion's wasn't good, but I just liked the sound of Morrowind's better, which is odd considering I find most of the rest of Morrowind's soundtrack to be kind of boring and uninspiring.

They are the same theme and both soundtracks are very beautiful.

I am assuming you mean the main theme song? I prefer Morrowinds. When I first herd for the first time, it was like, OMG, this is awsome. I never go this with Oblivions. I do love Oblvions theme song, but I prefer Morrowinds better.

I just don't get the OMG epicness to Oblivions as I did with Morrowind when hearing if for the first time.

Damn...0 votes for OBs :P anyway although I think OBs is more epic I prefer MWs for some reason, it's much more mystical just like the entire game itself.

Morrowinds theme and atmosphere was vastly superior to Oblivions, in my opinion.

They are the same theme and both soundtracks are very beautiful.

Yeah..definitely not.

Morrowind. It just seems more epic to me. I do like Oblivion's, though. Just not as much as Morrowind's.

Yeah..definitely not.

Not what? Same theme or both being beautiful? :P

They are thematically the same.

I'm not a musician, maybe I should have said http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrangement of the same theme.

But MWs intro theme / song is not the same as OBs theme / song...they are completely different, that's what we're saying.

Wait, wut. I think I'm confused. The OP says nothing about the opening theme, I didn't know it was about music. I thought the general theme of the game. Anyway, MW's theme song is better IMO if that's what we're talking about.

Many call it Morrowind/Oblivion theme for a reason. My ears tell me they are the same theme, different arrangement. Maybe a musician around could comment on it.

PS. I am specifically talking about main title/opening theme. Sorry for confusion.

Out of the two in the pole, I'd go with Morrowind, not that Oblivion's is bad. :)

And I agree with StoneFrog, Daggerfall's is good too. :)

And it is kinda funny that no one voted for Oblivion. :P

Oblivion sounds too "Pirates of the Carribean" to me... I like my main themes to be unique.

Morrowind, imo, has a better sound, and I'm also blinded by nostalgia. :D

Oblivion's. I just listened to Morrowind's and it sounds very generic, although I still like it.

Definitely Oblivion's theme. Sounds more epic and exciting.
Morrowind's was more soothing and soft.

I used to open the oblivion launcher (PC), just to hear the theme.
I'm sooo weird. Haha.

Oblivion's sounds like a Pirates of the Carribean rip off. Morrowind.

Morrowind was far more superior to Oblivion when it came to being a RPG.
Skills played an important part regarding player Accuracy
Spell and Weapon variable damages made combat that little bit more interesting

The only thing that Oblivion was "better" at was appearance.

The themes grew tired. I don't know.

Did Shivering Isles have its own music?
