[WIPz] Morrowind Overhaul - Game Experience

Post » Sun Aug 29, 2010 7:12 pm

Yeah Glubby's. I had some issues with a couple Chargen mods along with some other older mods (one of which can't be discussed here).

It also has the unfortunate issue of having been merged so you can't use the various plugins

Actually, even though it's merged, Gluby left in the commented customize script so you can fool around with it and as far as I know, the plugins should work. I have personally tried the fairly easy and fairly hard plugins to check them out although I ended up making my own edited version.
Sorry to hear you had some problems; I know others have too but not me fortunately. :)

Creatures X has one major annoying issue...the silly bugs/rats it spawns all over the towns. Fix that and I'd use it again for sure.

GCD presents some issues, due to the state it was left in. I'm running a version pulled from the thread on these forums, but it still has some issues.

Can't say enough about Darknuts GDR.

I wouldn't play without GCD. It's an excellent mod, but I don't know if I would recommend it to everyone. I think you really have to be willing to open it up and tinker with settings in the CS to really get the best of it. I've toned magicka regen way down (my warrior character doesn't regen a full magicka bar within 1 game day, with NoM's longest day length setting) and my skill leveling speed is also very low to keep my character from getting strong quickly. It's a great mod, but if you want to play a superman-esque character it's going to prevent it. I'd certainly recommend it as optional though.

CreaturesX, GCD and NoM are all optional :)

I guess this means I should hurry up and finish the update for my mod I'm working on :P

Yes, if you still want that beautiful redhead I have for you lol :D

Do we have an ETA for the release, KINGPIX?

Hmmm, it's too early to say that :P

Sorry for the shameless plug, but would you consider my http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4970 for part of the compilation?

Ok, I'll try it! ^^

Hold it!, Hilgya, and Starfire have an interesting three way dynamic with their plugins. Make sure you dig through the various options to make the 3 work together. I don't remember what I ended up using (and I'm at work now so I don't have access)

Oblivion/LGNPC books link isn't valid. I believe this was pulled from PES. Its on Elric still I believe.

I prefer Advanced Herbalism to Graphic Herbs, but that's just me. I'm a fan of it adding the "Herbalism" skill to the game which you have to level up to do Herbing.

Yeah sure, that's why I included Starfire and not MCA.
Anyway thanks for the broken link, corrected now :)

MCA is better IMHO, simply due to the companion availability early on (it interacts with Hold It, CoV and HELLUVA weapons/armor as well)

I use both at the same time though, as I really like Starfire's NPCs as well.

Another thing you might consider is Light the Way. It requires the user to manually run a script though. A bit more cumbersome for the end user.

Yeah but I usually tend to prefer Starfires, more light and simple. Anyway we'll see later on.
About Light the way: yeah I already had that suggestion, it's a quite good mod it seems, I just have to try it. :)

Have you considered "Morrowind Comes Alive"?

Obviously and optional part, as it can be a fps hit for older machines and adds something new, as opposed to just modifying something already in the game.

I know I'm not alone in thinking that the bigger cities just seem like ghost towns. Either way, I love the list so far; keep up the good work!

There is Starfire's NPC Addition that does the "same" thing, but it's more light and simple.

Woo I'm very happy to such a project! Everytime I come back to Morrowind, the mods are just too many and I'm quite dumb in solving even small conflicts between them.
Also it's really good to see Great House Dagoth mods on the list and I could say that for many mods too.

Playing Morrowind with these packs will never be the same again! :)

I think that it is given to include all the fixes out there first.

Mods like MCA or another additions should come second.

Oh, and speaking of additions, Since you are already considering GCD; maybe you want to try one of the newer variants of GCD. Which are more streamlined and easier on the code!

Maybe one of those Tomb Horror mods. That add scripted or triggered effects in tombs, which are quite creepy. Don't remember the name ATM. :obliviongate:

Yeah, this is one I'd highly recommend. Takes the Solsteim rumor away from everyone, everywhere, at the start of the game. It gets old real fast.

Then you should also get the one that removes the Almalexia and Solstheim topic. And the one that stops that really annoying "E-e-excuse me but you're the nerevarine" greeting.

I won't include Deus Ex Machinima: it's too different from Morrowind's original style. I'll look into Sobitur Facility, I have to try it

Man, I shouldn't have even bothered trying to work it into the lore in the first place. :(

Anyway mine wasn't a critic, actually it's just a rule for the pick of mods in the pack.
It's obvious that Deus Ex Machinima is a well done mod.

ABM that should be included in this Overhaul, does it.
The response is not removed. It's still used, but just sometimes, and by commoners.

I was looking through the list for "holes", but couldn't really find any. It's a great list.

I have a few suggestions, of course:

  • Fatigue Effects + Tejon's Fatigue Mods
  • Taddeus Balance - Weapons & Armor (patched to meet BTB's economy settings)
  • Protective Guards
  • Wanderers of Solstheim
  • Wound Penalties, WP Blood Loss, WP Critical Hits (I haven't fully tested this one)
  • Potion Sorter
  • Dodge Mod (Aragon)
  • Werewolf Evolution

  • Fatigue Effects + Tejon's Fatigue Mods That's a part of the combat system. It was a possiblity, but it's still in testing.
  • Taddeus Balance - Weapons & Armor (patched to meet BTB's economy settings) I actually forgot it in the list, already planned for inclusion :)
  • Protective Guards Fliggerty's mod... he doesn't want his mods included.
  • Wanderers of Solstheim I forgot how it is, I'll test this one!
  • Wound Penalties, WP Blood Loss, WP Critical Hits (I haven't fully tested this one) Same as fatigue effects, will see for the combat system.
  • Potion Sorter Included in the graphics pack, will see if or not include it in the Game Experience too.
  • Dodge Mod (Aragon) Sounds cool, have to try it.
  • Werewolf Evolution Yeah this is a cool mod, I have to try it.

Thanks for the suggestions !

I'd suggest only having fixes installed by default - everything else should be optional. That will give the user the most flexibility and freedom of choice for their kind of modded game experience. Obviously some plugin choices will be dependent on other plugins and that will create restrictions for fully optional combinations.

Some ideas to look for permission to include:

* http://abot.silgrad.com/guppy/index.php?option=downloads&task=info&id=1&Itemid=50&-Guars (ride-able mounts)

* http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=2734 or another sailing mod.
