Performance-wise spoken, what framerate after all should I get, approximately with my system?

? Win7
? i5 Quad Core 750 2,67ghz overclocked to 3,2Ghz
? GTX 460 with 1024mb RAM
? 4gig RAM

Also curious with different specs
Phenom 965 Quad (3.4ghz)
ATI 5850
4 gb ram
edit: Also I forgot to add, does this enable support for 1920x1080 resolution? (i hope so cause thats the monitor i got lol)

MGE does support 1920x1080. I have a similar setup and it runs smoothly except with "high detail shadows" which don't even look that good really.

I am not smart, can't figure out quoting >_<. Evin, I have similar specs to you, I am running ...

Windows 7 x64, 6gb ram, gtx 460 1gb, i7 920 @ 3.8ghz, 1920x1080

When running Fraps, it claims 30fps indoors and around ~23fps outdoors (both basically constant), but this is misleading. The game looks perfectly smooth to my eyes with no slowdown whatsoever.

If I follow the the instruction on the guide I end up with ~25fps (with SSAO) oder ~30fps (without SSAO). (Drawdistance 7 Cells). Normal, or just way to less framerate?

It also depends on other settings, like AA or screen resolution
a drop of 5fps when activating SSAO is just normal, that shader is really heavy

I should also note, I'm running w/ AA off, antistropic @ 16x, and draw distance at 13.

It's odd, AA an AF just don't seem to affect my framerate at all...

I always thought it is because Morrowind heavily depends on CPU-Power instead of GPU-Power...

I want a gtx460 too...
If you want to see a (almost) correct fps counter try using the MGE option. it should be more accurate than fraps

FRAPS and the internal MGE-Counter show me almost the same framerate.

But it seems ~25-30 fps are perfectly normal... :D
Thx for the info. :)

My Specs:
Windows 7
AMD Phenom 3.4GHz Quad-Core
Radeon HD 5770
4GB Ram

I am running it at a 1920x1080 resolution, anisotropic filtering 2x, all of the included shaders, draw distance at 10 cells, 3.0 shading, and all water reflections. No AA or high detail shadows.
I am getting between 20-25 fps outdoors (that seems kinda low, but it looks plenty smooth to me and I like the SSAO too much to deactivate it), and about 30-35 fps indoors.

I can confirm that MGE supports both 1920X1080 and 1920X1200. I had a 28" monitor 16:10 running at 1920X1200 and recently upgraded to a 42" hdtv and am running at 1920X1080 with no problems and it looks gorgeous!

This is yet another are where you guys succeed where the Morrowind 2011 guy failed, you're actually testing it with the community before you go public with it. There were so many wierd thigns going on with that mod that even though it included most of the graphics mods I use it was poorly compiled and there were problems with it.

Yes I had far too many problems with the Morrowind 2011 mod - missing textures, ruined item names and icons, solid grass that couldnt be walked through and would just block everything. It had all the graphics mods I wanted, but too many that didnt work.

Another mod I want is Clothiers of Vvardenfell, but that one cant be downloaded anymore as it was taken down, so I dont think it would be acceptable to add it in. Unfortunate :(

I want a gtx460 too...

The GTX 460 is running this at 25-50 fps alongside a highly clocked I7 with everything enabled and maxed except for any shaders. If you try turning bloom on it drops to 19 fps, but I could try reducing the lod extender texture sizes, using a lower mesh detail and halving the AA to 4x to see if I can get 25 FPS with bloom turned on.

Yep, I reduced the lod textures to 4096 / 2048 (were at 8k each before), and the mesh detail down to high from ultra high. Now I have 25=30 FPS with DX9 ful bloom, playable depth of field, SSAO and godrays on. It looks really really nice :)

unfortunately i cannot tell how will be the prformances for any configuration, but i will post the configuration of Nick93, the man behind the screenshots, as a comparison basis :)
PC
- Intel Core i5 750 @ 3,2 GHz
- ATI Radeon HD5850
- 4GB RAM DDR3
- Windows 7 Ultimate x64
MGE
- Resolution: 1680x1050
- Antialiasing: 4x
- Anisotropic: 16x
- All the six shaders
- Textures Resolution and normal map Distant Land: 4096
- Mesh Detail: Ultra High
- Minimum static size: 1
- Draw Distance: 15
- Shader Model: 3
- Water: everything activated
RESULTS
In interiors is between 80/100 FPS, in exteriors goes around 30/40 FPS, never going below 20 FPS even in the heavyer zones.

these are his reports about performance, hoping you will find it helpfull ;)

Minimum static size 1 feels a bit overkill, you'd render all kind of small rocks in the distance that you probably can't even see. :P

i can only post what he reported to us :) i thought this could be helpful for the ones asking about performance, as i can't tell the exact behaviour for every single configuration!
maybe you guys could post your specs and the results, this could be also helpful :)

Is it meant to be at 1 or -1? I'm getting all kinds of weird plain white aliasing around trees and some other items that look like artifact pixels, but they arent due to overclocking as they happen at stock speeds as well. My GTX 460s run at 900 / 4000 giving performance comparable to a 5870 / 5970 and I plan to keep them until there is something a lot better at <£150 per card. They've recently reduced the MSI Hawk 5850 to £149, but there is very little difference between that and the GTX 460, especially when overclocking.

The GTX 460 is an overclockers dream, mid range cost, great stock performance, 5970 performance with two of them overclocked for £150 - £200 less :)

The GTX 560 is coming out soon, but thats going to be around the same price and performance as an ATI 6950, at that price point its better to get the 6950 and software unlock it to a 6970, something I wound really like to do but they are far too expensive.

btw since I got a 5970 I can confirm that it runs better with a gpu turned off.

Hey guys quick question
Is there supposed to be Oblivion-esque grass in the game? I believe I installed everything correctly but there is no grass anywhere to be seen. Just standard grass textures. Also, any tricks for performance? I have been fussing around with the settings for days and cant seem to get over 30 fps, usually hovering around 20. I have a GTX 460 SLI and 920 OCed to 3ghz with 6 gigs of ram on win 7 64 bit. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi All

At the first I want to big thanks for this compilation.

Since yesterday I am trying to install this build (follow Installationguide) but when I reach the main part of the installation and run "MGSO_Install.exe" it display message about missing library D3DX9_40.dll ??

I have Windows 7, DX11 probably witch the last version (June 2010.)

The file is in C: \ Windows \ System32

Regsrv command does not help.

Copiyng the file to the main game folder also not working.

I'll be very grateful if anyone have any ideas.

(Sorry for my english)
