[RELz] Morrowind Overhaul - Sounds & Graphics

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 5:37 am

Excellent Magic Sounds is already included in the patch 1.1 :)

Right, didn't realize that because its on my hard drive and I installed it after I did a fresh install with 1.1 :D. I should pay more attention to these things.

No problem. Thanks for reporting it anyway ^^

Check Morrowind.ini to see if Flora Glow.bsa is registered under [Archives]

If it isn't, underneath Archive 1=Bloodmoon.bsa, add Archive 2=Flora Glow.bsa.

Solved! Thanks! :D

Kingpix, check this: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=4121

Installed everything. it all worked. every step was followed. no problems and nothing changed in game.

Though some ambient sounds are ear crackling high and out of place and there is a few more crappy looking swamp trees from vanilla around, i guess. Some parts my terrain now has become broken and i have to jump around it. And few places that should of been wonderfully green are actually devoid of trees altogether. I mean i basically feel like i downloaded a 1gig file for some very loud ambient sounds and good looking morrowind loading screens. Its all the same ? so dissapointed

... And do you have Steam right?
If yes, you didn't follow the additional Steam steps in the install guide.

Everything seemed to install correctly until I got to the point where I had to load up shaders and create distant land on MGE. Apparently, there are some files that are missing. The whole distantland folder and the active.sav file are nowhere to be found. Should I just re-download the whole thing, or can I get these files somewhere?

Uh, sorry didn't see your message.
Are you using Windows 7/vista? If yes disable the UAC. Where did you install Morrowind?

Please make note of Xiran's Music System (if you use it) having a higher-than-average rate of CTD's. I used to play with just Morrowind Overhaul and Xiran's, and it was the only one that consistently crashed the game.

BTB created a version that is much more stable, but not publicly available out of respect for Xiran's work done on it.

So if you use Xiran's.....make a giant note saying "This mod uses MWSE and is potentially highly unstable."

I put it in the program files. I remember reading in the FAQs that this was a bad place to put it, but I wasn't sure if it would make any difference.

Huh, I've been using it for ages and rarely ever get any crashes. I wonder if it depends on the system? Either way, I love it but I think perhaps it should be optional for people who don't want it. Also, if you include it, make sure you rename the Battle and Explore folders to Battle Disabled and Explore Disabled, and copy the .mp3's from those folders to the music directory.

Anyway I'm not sure if include it or not atm.

The problem is MGE isn’t looking in the right places for registry keys.

- disable UAC

- Run regedit and delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bethesda Softworks

- Run MGE and re-generate distant lands + shader active chain

hope this works.

Long-time lurker here. Finally got around to actually registering. Just want to say that the Overhaul has brought me back for some new tours in Morrowind. Thanks a lot KingPix!

Now if I can just stop trying to add other mods and actually start playing....

Holy cow. I've re-installed MW about once a year since the beginning, and I thought I had been using just about the best set-up for graphics and sound, but I had no idea all that I was missing. Simply fantastic, and the most awesome installation guide ever.

Thanks a million

I'm currently rocking an Athlon 64 x2 2.0 GHz processor, 3 GB RAM and an HD 5750. Before I start the dl, does anyone here have experience running it on a similar machine? I have a feeling it'll chew up my processor into tiny bits.

Follow the personalization guide available here: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8987
You will be able to adapt it :)

How are you planing on getting MGE XL and it features in the overhaul with out losing stuff from MGE, I don't the specifics, but its seems some stuff can't be use from MGE with XL. Also do you know of anyone doing an overhaul of this sort for Oblivion?

If I leave the shadows off (either through the game menu or unticking the "High detail shadows" box in the Morrowind.ini tab of MGE), how will it affect the SSAO shader?

Not at all, they're completely unrelated.

When I try to open MGSO's instalation manual (that one hosted on Google Docs) it says "We're sorry. You can't access this document because it is in violation of our Terms of Service.". What the...?
