[RELz] Morrowind Overhaul - Sounds & Graphics 2.0

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 2:59 pm

Hey can someone recommend which setup's I should do.
I have tried a few times and I keep getting around 15 fps, I want at least 25 fps.
PC specs
Processor- AMD Phenom? II X4 955 Processor
Memory (Ram)- 8GB
Graphics- AMD Radeon HD 6570

If there is anymore specs you want me or need me to post tell me and I will.
THx
P.S I Have evey texture pack for skyrim at max,Realistic lighting mods, Higher poly mods, and alot more.
So I think I could run a game that came out 10 years ago.

More info..
Steam version.
Here is my system:

i52500k @ 4.4GHz
GTX570 @ 870/1740/1950
8Gb DDR3 1866
Samsung SSD game drive
Corsair SSD system drive

With Skyrim graphics mods I'm in the high 20s- low-mid 30s.
With Morrowind graphics/ gameplay mods I'm in the mid-high 20s- low 30s.

With your system you will not run better than that.

The bottleneck in TES games is CPU, not usually GPU. With that in mid, start adjusting view distances, actor and static view distances, etc. Turn off AA, and especially transparency AA. Go easy on the shadows. Don't be proud. Go with a lighter MGSO config; your PC cannot handle the highest level one at the frame rate you want. I have to make compromises with my system too. :)

Oh, and for Akatosh sake, don't install the heavy Vurt Ascadian Isles trees mod; it will kill you FPS dead.

Look at his thread opened here today http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1363402-req-collaborators/

He will update MGSO when his auto-update server will be fixed.

Can anyone tell me what causes this? Half of the time when I load, i get a black screen. I also get a black screen when Jiub asks me my name and when I take a screenshot. The other half of the time, i get invisible things like floors and bodies and I can see forever. i didn't manually install; I got the computer to do it for me, and I chose 'Good' for my computer''s settings.

@ Texnshasta

Did you make sure to install MGSO over a 100% clean Morrowind install?

Other than that, the only other thing I can think of that you need to try and Regenerate distant land by going to the MGEgui application in your Morrowind folder, and going to the 'Tools' tab. I believe the button you want is the third and last one...Distant Land Creation Wizard, or something like that.

Edit: Yeah here is where you need to go. http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/5705/helptexn.jpg and hit 'Continue' in the Distant Land Creation Wizard.

If this doesn't work, it really looks like there was just something screwy with your install. I would Delete Local Files on Steam, then go into your Steam/Steamapps/Common folder and COMPLETELY delete your Morrowind folder before reinstalling off of Steam and then reinstalling MGSO.

I have Tribunal and Bloodmoon installed, if that counts as 'unclean'.
I don't have an MGEgui, rather, I have an MGEXEgui. It doesn't seem to have a tools tab. It has 'graphics', 'distant land', 'in-game', 'config', and 'instructions'.

Can you take a screenshot of your Morrowind folder and post it here?

And if you have Morrowind on Steam it should include Tribunal and Bloodmoon in the install, as it's the 'Game of the Year' edition. So they are all part of your 'clean' install. It sounds to me like you may have installed the mod incorrectly, and may even have the wrong version. If your Morrowind folder does not look at least similar to mine, as seen in the screenshot I posted, then something is clearly awry.

I can't take screenshots due to an apparent error with my windows explorer, not allowing me to open .lnk files, including paint. However, I know that my file looks nothing like yours and I will do what you instructed. thanks for the help.

I'd recommend this link to download MGSO, by the way. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8987 the download page on the official site splits the mod into five different downloads, unnecessarily complicating things. With this download it comes in an easy to use application that you double click, and then choose to automatically install with only a little input from you through the process.

Good luck with getting things to work, and if you need further help don't hesitate to ask.

Working on a MASSIVE update in the MGSO Option tool and in the main installer.
Should be even easier than before, and quicker!

PS: @kmelch: Thanks for your kind words and for the thread. :)

Watched some videos about this mod. It looks really good. Except I got one problem with it.. the bushes in the area where the nasty bubbling mud is by the creeping sounding cave. The thorn bushes look flat. Like Sprite images or what not. Not cool

That's MGE generated grass not static bushes. It looks like all the standard MGE grass in fact.
Anyway it's completely optional so you can safely disable it. ;)

Gotcha, ok so if i disable MGE Grass, does that mean ill have no grass at all using your mod? Or will there still be a lot of ground cover?

There are many versions of grass, so if you choose one that doesn't have the bushes you don't like you will be fine and have grass in the rest of Vvardenfell aswell.
By the way if you are planning to get the Overhaul I suggest waiting for the improved installer and options program I'm setting up for you. :P

ok ok! do you have a version without grass and bushes? I know these can cause massive FPS issues especially with AA on.

Yes you can disable all the grass aswell.
The pack is freely customizable under these aspects, and with an handy tool easy to use.
