[RELz] Morrowind Overhaul - Sounds & Graphics

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 7:22 pm

Any idea what might cause this bug?
http://h7.abload.de/img/morrowind2011-09-0609-zufu.jpg

There are no error messages, but the game crashes a about 3 seconds after the start

Warnings.txt only shows some bc_shoes errors
Mlox fixed the load order and shows no more warnings
Both MGE Rev 178 and 186 have been tried

ProgramFlow seems normal
000000: Program Started
000000: Computer Name: Kiste
000000: Creating Windows
000000: Begin loading of archive header and invalidation of archived files
000001: Finished with header loading and invalidation
000001: Initializing Main
000001: Video adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (8.17.12.7533)
002347: Creating Scene
002347: Loading Master/Plugin
003060: Done Loading Master/Plugin
003060: Done Creating Scene
004692: Done Initalizing Main

No other mods than MGSO have been installed. Without MGSO MW started normally

Game is GOTY and both MGSO Patches have been applied

Hey there, i have found my problem finally. My screen stays black if i have shaders activated. Thats kinda weird, cuz they work fine when i had the old Nvidia driver running. Someone knows this issue? I am trying to get that old driver again.

For 2.0, can you make reflective meshes optional? They end up being too shiny in game and appear to glow. There's already the option with armor, you ought to add the same for silverware and whatever it is that makes paper "glow."

I originally posted in the wrong Morrowind Overhaul thread :(

I just downloaded this mod, and everything seems to be working fine so far, I have no problems in game.

I do have 1 problem outside of the game.

When I try to run MSGOO to customize just what I want, and I apply it, it tells me that the changes can't be made because access to Morrowind.ini is denied. Anyone know what I can do about this?

Check to see if your Morrowind.ini's file is not in 'Read only'.

Nah, the file isn't read only.

So here's what happens:

It says that access to the .ini is denied. So I go into the properties, and adjust the permissions, and when I go back into MGSOO it then says the file can't be found... It turns out it becomes hidden, and I need to go into "compatibility files" to find it, but I still can't get the MGSOO options to take.

Are you on Windows Vista/7 and do you have the game installed in the program files folder?

Yes to both. Windows 7 and program files (x86)

The installer wouldn't let me choose any other directory, and when I tried to copy and paste method of putting it into a new folder, it caused even more problems by not being able to open morrowind cuz it couldn't find the directory the game was in.

I want to install this mod but I don't think my rig can handle the water detail or the shaders.

can these 2 things be turned off easily? Or is it massively difficult? I want NO shadows and I just want to leave morrowinds water the way it is, basic default.

It's pretty clear in my opinion? 1.0 first, then 1.1 , 1.2, 1.3 :P

Why would you think that's "clear"? Just because you're a baller at installing mods doesn't mean everyone else is bud. :goodjob:

That raises many questions. If I download 1.0 first, do I have to go through the entire installation and then download and install 1.1, 1.2, etc? Why can't I just download 1.3 first?

^Types of questions from an inexperienced modder, or someone who is only used to installing texture packs.

Also, is it suppoesd to be DL'ing this slow? It's going at 333 KB/s. I'm on a 20MB/s connection..

Yeah, you download 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3, and then install the files in that order, just like trancemaster described.

The reason? Probably so that current mod users only need to download a small update file, rather than the whole package again.

Anyway, it is no big deal. If you have problems, we will help you.

Ok so after going through the initial steps of installation, I do the whole "update" thing when the window pops up after 99%, and then I hit update, then it says "so and so was updated!" and then an error window pops up headlined as this:

"Morrowind Code Patch.exe - No Disk"
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive D:.

Why would I have to have a disk is it talking about?

But after I hit cancel like 9 times in a row, it just gave up I guess and went on to the next step lol?

Well I got it working, everything looks great, except one problem: MGE isn't increasing view distant nor is it loading distant land despite it being checked in the MGE menu, I have it set to "6", and even though I decrease or increase that number in the Distant Land tab, nothing happens, it stays the same. It's like it's drawing things on the horizon as I'm walking towards them. -_- I thought MGE Distant land was supposed to..load distant land?

i followed the install guide to a T also.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=409C4kWjzjg

Actually, I don't even think MGE is working at all right now for me. It was the first time I opened up MW, all the nice grass and flora was there, now the grass is gone, I haven't changed any settings. What could have caused this?

There was a moment when I loaded up a character to test the settings out and my game just froze for like 30 seconds, i couldn't do anything, and then it came back and the grass was gone but it was there before. =/

Can you guys link me to a site that describes all the shaders available in MGE? I can't seem to find any descriptions for them.

Can anyone help me with my problem? It seems like MGE just switched off or something, and I don't know how to make it enable again.

I DL'd MOSG, installed it to the T using the video tutorial, ZERO problems. So I load up MW, start the game, and then my FPS was like -9, so I went into the texture files of MW and deleted the water files, and then I went back into MW, and the FPS issue was fixed. But it seems like then, MGE wasn't working, there was no distant land, and the flora and stuff was all gone, the flowers on the ground that it added, it was all gone.

So I opened up MGE, and I got this error message, I can't remember what it said, but I got it when I opened and when it closed. And ever since no matter what I do, MGE doesn't load up when I play MW. All of hte other stuff is there, the new trees, those spiky obelisk in the ald ruhn region, etc, all that's there, and the new textures, but MGE just isn't doing anything at all.

Did you try regenerating distant land?

Not sure what that's all about, but you should definitely consider reinstalling it outside the program files folder. There really should be an option to do so, unless you got it on Steam and have Steam installed in the program files folder. In which case I also recommend backing up your installed Steam games and re-installing Steam elsewhere. :P

On the Distant Land tab (or tools tab, depending on the version of MGE you have) there's a 'distant land generation wizard' option, or something with a similar name. Distant land needs to be generated first before it can be seen in the game. The Overhaul probably doesn't come with its own pre-generated distant land. I think. Either way, generate distant land and see if it shows up then.

How exactly do you generate distant land? The installation guide I went through didn't show how to do that at all, it just showed how to do grass, which I did. But that somehow turned off after the first time I ran the game.

Could you please explain to me how to generate like, 1 more cell of distant land, or like 100 feet or whatever it is? I don't want to kill my rig, but I want it to be so far back that I don't see it generating right in front of my face..
