KingPix and the Morrowind Overhaul Team are proud to present the first package of the project “Morrowind Overhaul”! It’s an Italian project started 2 years ago.

FIRST THINGS FIRST:
The mods included in this package were NOT created by KingPix. The credits list that you can find here includes every single modder who made this possible! I also want to thank the morrowind modding community for the huge work they did in those past 8 (almost 9!) years. I have personally contacted mod authors and received approval to use their mods in this package. I was unable to contact some mod authors, and have done my best to abide by their wishes as specified in their mod's readmes.

"Morrowind Sounds and Graphics Overhaul" is the first pack. It contains mods that will alter and enhance the visual graphics and the sounds of the game.

The aim of this project is to make more people around the world appreciate this huge game by giving them a simple installation file which includes everything they will need to play Morrowind with gorgeous graphics and sounds. I’ve tried to keep Morrowind’s “feeling”; therefore, the mods/meshes/textures I chose are the ones that I think are most faithful to the original colours and environment.

A benefit of this compilations is that players don’t need to go through the “download every single mod out there and try it” phase of customizing Morrowind. The pack is intended for people who would prefer not to hand-pick mods out of the thousands of mods available. Modding Morrowind can be overwhelming for some people, and they might want to start out with a compilation before they feel comfortable picking and choosing mods on their own.

UPDATES:
Please note that this pack will be often updated with new versions of the mod included, bugfixes, and so on. These updates will be available as patches. After 3 or 4 patches, I will create a new version of this compilation package. You can find all the current updates/patches http://morrowindoverhaul.net/blog/?page_id=9.

CONTACT:
Please leave feedback: I want to hear your comments, suggestions, advice, and criticism.
http://http://morrowindoverhaul.net/forum/index.php/topic,12.0.html
But you can also contact me...
By sending me an e-mail (dedicated e-mail adress): morrowindoverhaul@gmail.com

MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY:
Please tell me as soon as possible if there are issues like “oh no, you didn’t credited [modder_name’s_here]!” or “no, you can’t include my mod in this package.” If you do not want your content in this package, let me know, and I will remove it right away.

Oh, and just to be correct, here's the Morrowind Overhaul Team behind this project:

Kingpix - Project Leader and pack building/ tweaking
Fafolo - Italian Install Guide (wonderful)
Yoae (and his girlfrend XD) & Darkvalca - Guide translation + MGSO Options Program
Nick93 - Screens & videos

Have you installed the DirectX Redistributable June 2010 (or newer)?

Have you installed the DirectX Redistributable June 2010 (or newer)?

I googled the file and downloaded it. My Launcher works fine now.
But now I'm getting this at Step 22:

A few other things to verify after DX9 is installed:

1. Do you have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 redistributable installed?

2. Have you forced Morrowind to create registry entries (run the Morrowind launcher -> Go to Options -> Select a resolution and press "Okay." Close the launcher, registries have been created).

3. Do you have the .NET Framework v3.5 or newer installed?

Yes, I have the C++ 2008 and 2010. And Framework v4.0.

And I picked the largest screen resolution in the Options. I'm not sure if it's "forcing" any registries but I'm able to pick different screen resolutions and they all still won't let me load up MGE.

Run Regedit to confirm that you've got registries.

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind you should have a number of registry entries.

Alternatively, if you are on 64-bit windows, it is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind

I downloaded RegEdit from http://www.regedit.us/tag/download-regedit-for-windows-7/ and when I double clicked it, it didn't seem like it did anything. I'm on windows 7, 64-bit. My Morrowind path is in the regular Program Files, not Program Files(86x).
I tried to place it in C:Windows but it won't let me; keeps saying "Try Again" over and over.

I found the registries but I don't know what to do from here.

You shouldn't have needed to download Regedit as it should have been on your PC already, but that's fine. The registries exist.

Are you running as an Administrator? Is UAC active? I prefer to avoid the issue of folder permissions in Windows 7 and use custom directories for Morrowind, for example I cut the whole folder and pasted it into C: so that my directory is C:\Morrowind\Morrowind.exe. I don't know if this will help with the issue you are experiencing or not, but you have all the prerequisite programs installed it seems. Won't hurt to try.

Yes, I am the administrator.
UAC is set to lowest setting:
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/6733/unledae.jpg

I just use the default C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind
Still no go with MGE. gui :(

I'm not supposed to install the MSGO 1.3 patch yet, am I? Because I'm just using the base one right now. I stopped at Step 22 in the installation video.

Should I just download MGE XE and install that manually?

Couldn't tell you; I don't know anything about the MSGO install process, I thought only to point out some common pitfalls with MGE. If you have MGE SVN 178 installed, you can feel free to install the latest MGE XE on top of that manually and see if XE allows you to run (at worst you're stuck where you are now).

Edit: My predisposition against Windows folder permissions wants me to tell you to move the directory to C:\, but I don't know for sure if that would help or not. My feeling is that if I want folder permissions I'll boot into Ubuntu, I don't expect Windows to manage that even half-decently and I don't share my PC with anyone anyway, so it hardly matters. Folder permissions in Windows have served only to hinder me.

I downloaded the latest stable version of MGE 3.8.0b and the MGE.gui still won't start up. Can anybody diagnose what is the problem? I freshly installed TESIII today and the only other things I included were the Morrowind Code Patch and Children of Morrowind mod. Thanks for your help, NMZmaster.

I uninstalled TESIII, deleted all folders and then reinstalled it and didn't install anything except the two patches for TB & BM and the MSGO. And I followed it step by step like in the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=409C4kWjzjg and I still get stuck at that MGE thing. It just won't start at all. So I have no clue.

I don't know about MOSG and Windows 7, but I was under the impression that it's always been suggested that Windows 7 users install the game somewhere other than Programs File. I'd suggest searching the forum to doublecheck what ISTR.

Good luck.

I think I had this problem before, open up the morrowind launcher, go to screen res, change it to anything and save. then try to open up MGE.gui.

also, what was the reason for removing animated soul gems in 1.3?

You know what, I think it might be something with MGE alone, so I might just go post over in that thread and see what they say. I don't think it's MSGO.

Looking at the screenshots there are some things I noted...
I can't see any of those big mushroom trees. I hope they are not replaced with something else. They are vital MW parts. :)
And those big forests with what looks like dead trees.. http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/8179/48718356.png What are those? And why? Nothing like that exists in MW. Looking at the terrain it could be somewhere in Azuras coast or Sheogorad but there are not so many trees there.

EDIT: Still though. Thanks for the effort even if I have no idea of how it looks in game. Projects like this are great. :)

I don't like the red UI... DarkUI?... and I can't figure out how to change it.
How can I get the vanilla ....or better- but- normal-color.... UI back?
Or can you point me to other mod to over-write it maybe?
(I liked the simple Darnified UI for Oblivion but I haven't found anything similar for Morrowind?
Thanks.

Edit: Never mind, it's right there in the optional installs bit... Pemenie could have found it!
Sorry, and the game looks great.....and seems to be not crashing so far :woot:

Those dead trees are a replacement for Ashlands Trees. They can be disabled.

Yes I saw it later that the whole thing was very modular. Thanks for the reply. It looks like this will be a must have for me. :)

It doesn't say anything about how easy it is to tailor it to your own taste in the first post though. I'm probably not the only one that can get a little sceptical at first. :)

I've installed the Overhaul, but when I launch Morrowind the screen is "zoomed in" to far. I think I have a simple issue, just don't know how to fix it. The background music is playing and I can see and move my mouse if its in the quandrant that the screen is zoomed into. I can see the title shift between Tribunal and Bloodmoon, but everything is fuzzy and it appears I'm zoomed in the upper-right quadrant of the screen. Initial zoom is set to 3 in render state and I adjusted for wide screen using the FPS optimizer. If I push the "switch application" button on my keyboard, the screen flikers for an instant and everything is perfect before it takes me to the desktop. Does anyone know what's going on and how to resolve this? thanks

Maybe you're using the wrong screen resolution settings for MW?
