[BETA/WIPz] Morrowind Overhaul - Sounds & Graphics

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 11:57 am

Since yesterday I am trying to install this build (follow Installationguide) but when I reach the main part of the installation and run "MGSO_Install.exe" it display message about missing library D3DX9_40.dll ??

This looks like you are missing Direct X 9. You have to install Direct X version 9, which won't be on your Windows 7 system. The instructions hopefully cover it.

Hey guys quick question
Is there supposed to be Oblivion-esque grass in the game? I believe I installed everything correctly but there is no grass anywhere to be seen. Just standard grass textures. Also, any tricks for performance? I have been fussing around with the settings for days and cant seem to get over 30 fps, usually hovering around 20. I have a GTX 460 SLI and 920 OCed to 3ghz with 6 gigs of ram on win 7 64 bit. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Disable Nvidia SLI, it makes the game run better.
Yes there is the grass, follow the distant land part (Morrowind Graphics Extender) of the guide

Connary's BSA Part 2 won't extract for me... Says the file is broken. What do?

Re- download it.

Hi All

At the first I want to big thanks for this compilation.

Since yesterday I am trying to install this build (follow Installationguide) but when I reach the main part of the installation and run "MGSO_Install.exe" it display message about missing library D3DX9_40.dll ??

I have Windows 7, DX11 probably witch the last version (June 2010.)

The file is in C: \ Windows \ System32

Regsrv command does not help.

Copiyng the file to the main game folder also not working.

I'll be very grateful if anyone have any ideas.

(Sorry for my english)

I think you didn't extract the Install_Data.7z archive in the same folder as MGSO_Install.exe.

That is correct. I had that same problem and hadn't extracted the install_data archive.

I re-downloaded connarys BSA part 2 a couple times. Still says file is broken. Reinstalled 7zip and still no success. What do?

Hmm do you have all the 2 parts while extracting right?

I had the same "problem". The solution for me was as follows:
The 2nd part of the archive is NO standalone archive which can be unpacked.
-> You do not need to unpack the 2nd part of the archive separately), only the 1st part. It will grab all necessary data from the 2nd archive.
The file you'll need (included in the 2-part-archive) is called Connary's Bsa v2.bsa -> unpack this file.

I suggest updating the installguide accordingly:
- Download the two archive parts.
[- unpack this archive]
- Decompress the [resulting] file “Connary’s Bsa v2.bsa”.

I wonder if you have had a look at some of gvulture's textures.

There is some very nice work there that may fit in with what you're doing!

I have followed the guide, but still no grass. Can anyone think of a reason that may be causing this issue?

Are you using distant land & distant statics?
Re-do the distant land creation wizard and assure that in the 1st window of the plugin selection you can see grass plugins (like Bitter Coast Grass.esp, and so on)

It doesn't look like I have any grass.esp's. Were those included in the compilation? Not sure how I could have missed/lost those.

In the install guide you can find the correct procedure.
They are in the folder Data Files\Grass.
Click plugin directories (or something like that) while creating distantlands. Chose the Grass folder and select the plugins from the list.

Beautiful. Everything works wonderfully now. Thanks!
One last thing, anyone have a recommendation for a good UI mod? The text is so tiny at my resolution and the menus are cumbersome. I know this isn't really related to the topic but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again!

Got everything to work!! Good job OP!

Are there any mods to make dungeons, and caves darker?

Also, will galsiah's character development and Julan companion mod conflict with this mod compilation? Don't want to take chances lol.

Can't answer one but your second question I don't think they should.

Also, DarkUI is included. If you read his modlist credits its there :).
