[BETA/WIPz] Morrowind Overhaul - Sounds & Graphics #2

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:28 pm

Thread #2
Old threads: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1156204-betawipz-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics/

Video Of The Project: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r6hilB6Dlc

KingPix and the Morrowind Overhaul Team are proud to present the first package of the project “Morrowind Overhaul”! It’s an Italian project started 2 years ago.
The final release will be uploaded only if there is the approval of the modding community.

FIRST THINGS FIRST:
The mods included in this package were NOT created by KingPix. The credits list that you can find here includes every single modder who made this possible! I also want to thank the morrowind modding community for the huge work they did in those past 8 (almost 9!) years. I have personally contacted mod authors and received approval to use their mods in this package. I was unable to contact some mod authors, and have done my best to abide by their wishes as specified in their mod's readmes.

"Morrowind Sounds and Graphics Overhaul" is the first pack. It contains mods that will alter and enhance the visual graphics and the sounds of the game.

The aim of this project is to make more people around the world appreciate this huge game by giving them a simple installation file which includes everything they will need to play Morrowind with gorgeous graphics and sounds. I’ve tried to keep Morrowind’s “feeling”; therefore, the mods/meshes/textures I chose are the ones that I think are most faithful to the original colours and environment.

A benefit of this compilations is that players don’t need to go through the “download every single mod out there and try it” phase of customizing Morrowind. The pack is intended for people who would prefer not to hand-pick mods out of the thousands of mods available. Modding Morrowind can be overwhelming for some people, and they might want to start out with a compilation before they feel comfortable picking and choosing mods on their own.

UPDATES:

Please note that this pack will be often updated with new versions of the mod included, bugfixes, and so on. These updates will be available as patches. After 3 or 4 patches, I will create a new version of this compilation package.

CONTACT:
Please leave feedback: I want to hear your comments, suggestions, advice, and criticism.
By sending me an e-mail (dedicated e-mail adress): morrowindoverhaul@gmail.com
By sending me a Personal Message on gamesas Forums under my nickname “KINGPIX”
Or by posting on this thread!

MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY:
Please tell me as soon as possible if there are issues like “oh no, you didn’t credited [modder_name’s_here]!” or “no, you can’t include my mod in this package.” If you do not want your content in this package, let me know, and I will remove it right away.

Oh, and just to be correct, here's the Morrowind Overhaul Team behind this project:

Kingpix - Project Leader and pack building/ tweaking
Fafolo - Install Guide (wonderful)
Yoae (and his girlfrend XD) & Darkvalca - Guide translation and general help
Nick93 - Screenshots
Tumore - Betatesting
no1 - Morrowind Overhaul Mascotte
Julianross - So much help with mods and modlist
Andracos, Tumore & Chantalion - Plugin translation (English -> Italian)

Did you decompress the Installer_Data.7z in the same folder as the installer exe file..?

Yes,

im running on windows 7

first i had problem with D3DX9_40.dll

i found this under windows/system32, i copied it and placed it in the same folder and it gave no error any more.

But now i got this msvcr71.dll problem

I found msvcr100.dll in windows/system32 but no 71.dll

So i downloaded it, putted it in the system 32 folder >> didnt work
then i copied it in the same folder as the MSGO installation and it also doesnt work...

im out of ideas now :(

Extracted to external map:

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/8261/morrowind2.png

Extracted to main morrowind folder:

http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/7387/morrowindb.png

but i see you have a MIox map?
Those give the problem, missing MIox\msvcr71.dll

Ohhh now I understand.
You must extract the files compressed into Installer_Data.7z
In fact the file "Installer_Data.7z" is a compressed archive!
You need WinRAR/7zip to decompress it in the same folder as MGSO_Installer.exe.
Here you can download 7zip for free: http://www.7-zip.org/

The files you see in my screenshot are from the 7z archive!

There've been a couple updates to mods included in the pack. The first is http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8490 which has been updated to v1.02b.

I also noticed that Planet Elderscrolls says that http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8937 is updated but I'm not sure what has been change (maybe its mentioned in the thread here on the forums).

I might also recommend taking a look at using http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6655s instead of Golden Gold, but this is a personal preference - I think that the Shiny Septims mod fits in better with the overal Elder Scrolls lore (and the septims in Oblivion).

Anyway, how's work coming along on the next version of this?

Both mods are updated ;)
The gold will be modular in the next release.
We are working hard for it! :D
A few days and the final release is out!

This mod is great! Thanks for this, personally, the only thing I care about is a quick and easy Morrowind install thats stable and looks great, so this mod pack is perfect. However Im having some problems, for some reason the Shader stuff doesnt work for me. If I set up a active chain as listed in the instructions I get a black screen on startup and the game generally wont work.

I have a Windows 7 64 bit Pro set, Geforce 275 GTX, 8 gigs ram, and its capable of running Fallout NV and Oblivion on the highest settings, so I dont think its a thing where my PC isnt good enough. Again, Thanks for making this compilation, Morrowind is a old game, its good to be able to just play it easily and not have to dig through tons of mods.

Are you playing with the Steam version of Morrowind? If you are, then disable Steam community in-game.

Thanks for the Reply. I am using steam, however I had originally unchecked Steam Community in-game in the Library Options menu for just Morrowind, I now just tried doing it also from the main Steam settings menu, yet it still doesnt work with the shaders.

hmmm, try to enable only some shaders first, like only hdr + ssao & godrays.

Did you change the dates of the esm files for morrowind, tribunal, and bloodmoon? that is essential for mge to work properly, as steam overrides any changes based on file date.

I am having a problem as well. It seems that my game crashes every time I travel to Balmora by silt strider in the beginning of the game. Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, I made sure to change the dates of the .bsa's as listed in the installation instructions when i setup the mod. As trying them separately, I've determined that HDR, Ambient Occlusion and Godrays cause the black screen on load up, however while Playable DOF, Underwater blur, and water bobble let me run the game normally, they all distort the screen so much the game is unplayable due to the blurryness.

Hey guys. Exe optimizer says "access to path sse.exe is denied".

I press "ok", and move on with the installation.

Still I'd appreciate to know what this is about. Thank you.

Here's a installation guide to Morrowind Overhaul for those without gmail accounts.

_http://www.scribd.com/doc/47127890/MorrowindSoundsandGraphicsOverhaul-InstallationandConfigurationGuide_

Edit: In Morrowind Launcher -Data Files, we can't check slof's bb neck fix because Betterheads.esm is missing. Do you think it is
wise to download and use Betterheads.esm or not?

Otherwise your mod IS the best.

Hi, if you want Better Heads use it, but if you like MO's default heads just delete the bb neck fix.

Thanks :)

Another mod update:

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7335 has been updated to v1.8 (last version was v1.7), might want to update your compilation with the new version.

Here is a preview of the customization program.
http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/2461/mgsooptions.jpg
You can switch different mods for personal tastes.
An HTML guide will be included, with some descriptions and screens. This little program also auto-activates esps and auto-runs MGE if Distantland creation is required.
Thanks to Yoae for the help :)
