[RELz] Morrowind Overhaul - Sounds & Graphics

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:56 pm

Thread #3
Old threads: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1156204-betawipz-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics/, http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1158688-betawipz-morrowind-overhaul-sounds-graphics-2/

KingPix and the Morrowind Overhaul Team are proud to present the first package of the project “Morrowind Overhaul”! It’s an Italian project started 2 years ago.

FIRST THINGS FIRST:
The mods included in this package were NOT created by KingPix. The credits list that you can find here includes every single modder who made this possible! I also want to thank the morrowind modding community for the huge work they did in those past 8 (almost 9!) years. I have personally contacted mod authors and received approval to use their mods in this package. I was unable to contact some mod authors, and have done my best to abide by their wishes as specified in their mod's readmes.

"Morrowind Sounds and Graphics Overhaul" is the first pack. It contains mods that will alter and enhance the visual graphics and the sounds of the game.

The aim of this project is to make more people around the world appreciate this huge game by giving them a simple installation file which includes everything they will need to play Morrowind with gorgeous graphics and sounds. I’ve tried to keep Morrowind’s “feeling”; therefore, the mods/meshes/textures I chose are the ones that I think are most faithful to the original colours and environment.

A benefit of this compilations is that players don’t need to go through the “download every single mod out there and try it” phase of customizing Morrowind. The pack is intended for people who would prefer not to hand-pick mods out of the thousands of mods available. Modding Morrowind can be overwhelming for some people, and they might want to start out with a compilation before they feel comfortable picking and choosing mods on their own.

UPDATES:
Please note that this pack will be often updated with new versions of the mod included, bugfixes, and so on. These updates will be available as patches. After 3 or 4 patches, I will create a new version of this compilation package.

CONTACT:
Please leave feedback: I want to hear your comments, suggestions, advice, and criticism.
http://morrowindoverhaul.net/forum/index.php/topic,12.0.html
But you can also contact me...
By sending me an e-mail (dedicated e-mail adress): morrowindoverhaul@gmail.com
By sending me a Personal Message.
Or by posting on this thread!

MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY:
Please tell me as soon as possible if there are issues like “oh no, you didn’t credited [modder_name’s_here]!” or “no, you can’t include my mod in this package.” If you do not want your content in this package, let me know, and I will remove it right away.

Oh, and just to be correct, here's the Morrowind Overhaul Team behind this project:

Hey Overhaul-team, I just noticed http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/107367 is holding a mod-centered week. Might not be a bad idea to send them notice that you just gave Morrowind a nice refurbishing.

Can you copy here your Warnings.txt file (Morrowind folder) when you have the yellow block on Elone?

EDIT: Regarding the "snowflake error": make sure that your [Archives] section of the Morrowind.ini file looks like:

[Archives]
Archive 0=Tribunal.bsa
Archive 1=Bloodmoon.bsa
Archive 2=Flora Glow.bsa

If not, replace it with this. :)

EDIT2: New thread: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/12-morrowind-mods/

I've played a bit, and there are a few others with the yellow thing, Big Helende also has it.
Model Load Error: Meshes\a\A_Netch_F_cuirass.nif cannot load file in Meshes\a\A_Netch_F_cuirass.nif.
Will use the default object Marker_Error.NIF.

Pretty sure it's because they both wear netch cuirass heh.

I also don't seem to have that archive section in my .ini, and adding it causes a ton of errors when trying to start a game. But that's after fixing the snowflake error by copying files from bloodmoon over.

Anyway, will try another completely fresh install tomorrow I guess, quitting for today.

So I had a chance last night to do a clean re-download of Morrowind from Steam, install the compilation (along with Creatures X and Morrowind Comes Alive for starters, haven't installed other mods yet) and following the install guide everything worked perfectly! At least from just running around initially.

Anyway, I linked to this yesterday but in case you missed it you should see about adding http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1164234-relz-ultimate-icon-replacer/ in your first update to the compilation.

Also worth checking out is thehttp://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1164120-relzhopesfire-replacer-morrowind-edition/ which was also just released yesterday and a worth graphical addon to the game.

Finally,http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36873 has been updated to v1.1.

Odd Hermit: If you followed the guide and didn't install it in the Program Files folder then there is something else you can try to get the game working. First thing you need to do is install Morrowind and it's expansions. You need to then follow the guide at http://www.blogsdna.com/2159/how-to-take-ownership-grant-permissions-to-access-files-folder-in-windows-7.htm to give yourself ownership over your Morrowind folder. Finally you then install Morrowind Overhaul and hopefully it will now work correctly.

In the beginning of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NX-MvnYUEs, what grass mod is Warwon using? They grass looks curled at the tip. He also must be using the latest MGE because his water looks incredible.

Well I've tried both in and out of the programs file(x86) folder.

It automatically installs there for me, I have no option to choose what folder.
I tried moving it into a different folder(after patching because the patch automatically installs into program files), and then installing MGSO from that folder, obviously making sure at all steps I was choosing the correct path and such, but I get an error along the lines of "Font 0 not found in Morrowind .ini" when trying to run it.

Is there a way to choose where to install it that I'm missing? I'm using windows 7 64 bit. The guide doesn't specify how to install to a different folder, the only option seemed to be moving it manually after installing it to program files, and then installing MGSO to the new folder.

Hermit!

(for the record you do have GOTY!?)

It should give you choice over the path you want to install.
If it does not, run a registry cleaner.
Since the leftover installation of an earlier install still has its old path saved there. And since it's the same game, the OS doesn't give a scamp's ass.

Like said try the Reg cleaner and wipe the whole folder, then start at zero, (lol once again ;) ) and try to set the path like c:\Games\Morrowind\

Worked for me! The first thing I installed on win7, before i realized what [censored] it was, was Morro!

Good luck!

Ran CCleaner and cleared out my registry, but it still won't let me change the path.

Is there a better free registry cleaner I should be using?

Thanks for all the help already BTW.

LOL, you're welcome!
I too had to learn it the hard (boring) way! ;)

Lookie!

Download a program called RegCleaner (google is friend) and install it. Run it.

Under the Software tab, look for entries by Bethesda Softworks and place ticks next to them, and choose Remove Selected.
Next, still in RegCleaner, go to the Tools menu and choose Registry Cleanup>Do Them All to clean out your registry of redundant entries in general.

(this is from and trusted old Morro tweak guide) :)

So, this is the last thing i can think of, other than manually fooling 'regedit' which is a nonono! To me a t least!

PS. I just noticed that the Barrier Spell causes an exclamation mark to appear instead of the well known sphere. Can anyone confirm this?

Aha...found it. Was in a very odd folder in my registry "wow6423node". What it was doing there instead of being in the usual software folder I do not know. Neither CCleaner or registry cleaner got rid of it and I had to delete it manually using regedit. But I can now choose where to install morrowind! :)

Same problems as before. :sadvaultboy:
Snowflake missing error -> reinstall Bloodmoon -> warning that one or more plugins could not find master files they depend on -> missing netch cuirass graphic glitch

My Morrowind folder is C:\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind

I've taken ownership of the morrowind file and am going to try a reinstall of MGSO again.
Edit : Nope, after reinstall of MGSO, ownership of the Morrowind folder, installed to C:\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind, still every time I install MGSO the snowflake error re-occurs, and every time I reinstall bloodmoon to fix it, it causes the graphic glitch with the netch cuirass on females.

I suppose I should add that I don't have the GOY edition I have the oldschool discs, I do make sure to patch bloodmoon though.

Bugger!

I'm at the end of my rope Hermit!

Did the game run after the install, before applying the MOGS??

PS.

Kingpix;

I dug around and found, that the overhaul mod has the .esp of "ShieldVFX Retexture" , but no meshes.

After tracking down the mod on Planet Elder Scrolls i installed the meshes manually and it works now!

Thought you might wanna know!

Odd Hermit: After reinstalling Bloodmoon do you rerun mlox to redo your load order? That error means that it is likely that the Bloodmoon.esm is loading below plugins that are dependent on it.

OK reinstall -

1. Uninstallled Morrowind + completely cleared Morrowind folder
2. Installed Morrowind from disc, ran as admin just in case, installed construction set when prompted.
3. Did the same as in step 2 with Tribunal and Bloodmoon
4. Patched Bloodmoon (Bloodmoon_v1.6.1820) downloaded from official site
5. Ran Morrowind to make sure everything was in order - no problems, no error or warning messages, Elone is wearing her netch cuirass, no missing mesh yellow place marker thing with exclamation point in center, etc. etc.

6. Downloaded MGSO over again(from fileplanet), just in case.
7. Extracted with 7zip to C:\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind
8. Got an error message after extracting which I'm thinking may be the problem, other times I just opened archive and copied files over. Here's the message -

http://i.min.us/jcioPo.png

It's a long list of supposedly broken files. O_o
Do I DL MGSO again?
Edit: DLed and extracted again(after clearing out the first) and no broken files this time.
Installed, and am at the exeopt stage currently with no problems yet.

Odd Hermit: After reinstalling Bloodmoon do you rerun mlox to redo your load order? That error means that it is likely that the Bloodmoon.esm is loading below plugins that are dependent on it.

I didn't do this before! Will try after figuring out the above problem.

Edit again:
Still got snowflake error
Reinstalled Bloodmoon, reran mlox and updated load order
Still getting warning that one or more plugins could not find master files they depend on as well as the missing netch cuirass graphic glitch.

:[

Here's what I've got in my warnings text file -

Ok I have got it running problem with almost no problems after also adding

Archive 0=Tribunal.bsa
Archive 1=Bloodmoon.bsa
Archive 2=Flora Glow.bsa

To my .ini post reinstalling Bloodmoon and updating load order.
I still get the "One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information." but females in netch cuirass' are showing properly!

One problem remains so far! - I can't take screenshots even when I've got

Screen Shot Enable=1

in the .ini under [General]

I tried fraps and it didn't work either.

Thanks again to everyone for helping me get this all figured out.
