Make sure to disable the in-game shadows from the in game options.
Turning off distant lands has no effects?! O.o

I know right, I would think that would be the issue considering I only get an impact outside, but somehow that makes no difference whatsoever. The shadows in game are off too D:

try to use this older mge rev: http://sourceforge.net/projects/morrgraphext/files/Beta%20Releases/MGE%203.8%2B%20SVN%20builds/mge3.8.2-rev.0178.7z/download

No, it isn't for realism. It's just a facoltative addition to the immersion.

Immersion is the same thing as realism...
Immersion works by making the world seem more realistic, (or as realistic as a fantasy world can be.)
Thus, it adds certain PoVs, or different sounds, or even better physics. So, when I said realism, I could have said immersion and meant the same thing. Thank you for the solution, though.

Uhm, I think we have a different meaning about that, anyway no problems.

Finally registered an account here after years and years of lurking just to say thank you for all your hard work on this compilation. I had most of the major stuff in my old installation already but the real beauty in this compilation is in all the smaller mods brought together in one excellent installation process.

Again, a sincere thank you to you and all the modders included in this compilation.

So I'm getting a slowdown to around 15-20 fps in outdoor sector/zone/whatevers, but I get a pretty solid 30fps inside. I've tried lowering draw distance, reducing settings on distant land, and turned off anti-aliasing but it has no effect. I've also tried simply turning off distant lands, ambient occlusion, and high detail shadows. Any ideas?

I have a 9800GT and i7 920 so I would think that I could run it smoothly :x

In MGEgui >> 'Global graphics' tab >> 'Scene' section >> try setting the 'VWait setting' to 'Immediate' or 'Default (1)'. Using 1 thru 4 will clamp fps to an integer fraction of the display's refresh rate (i.e. if your monitor is running at 60hz, you'll get an fps of 60, 30, 20, 15 and so on.) The performance hit here isn't a normal reduction in fps but a limiter due to the clamping.

There's more info about this in the http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/morrgraphext/index.php?title=Global_Graphics#VWait_setting. The documentation is specific to v3.8.0b - revisions after 0115 now support VWait in windowed mode (it's forced to 'Default (1)' if not already set to 'Immediate' or 1). See the http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/morrgraphext/index.php?title=Change_Log for feature revisions thru 0116; changes for newer revisions are noted in the code repository.

Hm, setting that to Immediate seems to have helped, thanks!

EDIT: A few curious questions.

So I see that you're going to release a patch soon, any idea when that might be coming? Also, do you think you'll be releasing any future patches/updates/packs that would require a fresh character? I just want to know if I should wait a bit longer before actually starting to play the game :P

I've been using this mod for a few weeks and I got to say this is great. The fact that you got all these mods to play together nicely in one easy to install pack is just awesome. I have run into a small problem though unfortunately. The grass mods are not liking some of my favorite house mods. Is there a way to disable the grass in game and when not, short of opening up the editor (I was a bit confused when noticing I couldn't clean house with the console)? Possibly in MGEUI?

Read the faq please :D
You can download the fix here: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8987

Thank you! Keep up the good work :D

It might not be related though, but worth an ask I guess. I seem to always crash whenever I do a second fast travel. Like I go to Balmora from Ald-Ruhn and it works out fine, but if I transfer to Seyda Neen I crash. ToggleScripts doesn't seem to help.

Some of the grass, or all of the grass? For all of it, just use the macro editor to select a key, the assign it function->toggle grass. For some of the grass, the editor is pretty much your only option I think. Though I guess you might be able to load the esp directly and then use the console to disable invidual pieces of grass or something, but I have never tried it.

I will put it in the FAQs section.

The patch is coming soon, I need a little update before :)
No, the patches will not require a new pg.
That is going to be necessary with the second pack, "Game Experience", but we need so much time for it.

Uhmmm, never had that problem... try to rest an hour between the 2 fast travels.

Does resting between fast travels reduce the CTDs? That's the last real issue i have with my installation, whenever i travel from one exterior type to another the game is very likely to crash. So i always save before doing it, after loading the save it works fine.

Also, i'm sorry to say that the fix-wie-nix übersetzer isn't enough to get the overhaul running on german versions. As said earlier I don't have a german version and the people who tried aren't that familiar with morrowind-modding. So for someone who is experienced with installing many mods and translating them it might be possible.
Maybe you can find someone like that who can write a guide on how to do it

haha, no, I really don't know, but with Morrowind you never know what will happen :D

For the German version, yes, what you are saying is right, I'll search someone.

You'd get all the benefits of the meshes/textures/sounds/etc at close range, as compared to the vanilla game which looks old to most people. So to answer your question....yes, but not nearly as much.

The game looks many times better with MGE....not sure why anyone would not want to run MGE other than performance concerns, and MGE with conservative settings doesn't really have much performance impact on anything other than a laptop, since it uses cores of the CPU that Morrowind doesn't know about (or use) and uses the GPU (which the main engine uses very little of). Obviously, a laptop changes this since you probably don't have a dual-core CPU or a independent GPU.

Well,
the guide, screens, etc. are largely based on MGE, that now is a "standard" for almost all the Morrowind players that play with mods.
BUT if you want to remove it, just delete it from your Morrowind folder and enjoy Morrowind Overhaul without it :)

Oh, thanks for that, an option will be included in the newer version of MGSO Options coming with the patch 1.0a: No MGE.

Too bad :(

Btw, i'm downloading it now! Installing MW on my notebook and using your compilation definitly saves me some nerves. So far I just loved it for the choices you took in selecting the mods.
I'm really excited to see it in action and if it looks better / as good as my custom installation :D

Kingpix,
Im having trouble getting this to go.
Everything installed except the mgsoo program,it said i needed .net frame....so i downloaded all the system requirements listed in the instruction guide and i already had 2.0 so i download ed 4.0 and it keeps giving me an error that says:
1 or more required members of the transaction are not present.
Any ideas...oh yeah the exe.optimizer gave me a bunch of errors but i havent tried to rerun it yet want to get the mgsoo going.
thanks in advance,
qwert
