[RELz] Morrowind Overhaul - Sounds & Graphics

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:16 am

Thanks for the help so far, Kingpix. It's really awesome to see a modder (or mod compiler :P) so willing to give help where it's needed.

Two more quickies: Mlox says that I'm missing Better Bodies, which is causing Better Clothes to be flagged. Is this going to be a problem? Also, I installed MGSO 1.1 without a hitch, but I'm still displaying Vality's Ascadian Isles mod in the launcher's Data Files instead of Vurt's Lore Friendly version. In fact, I can't even find the esp for Vurt's mod. Am I missing something?

Thanks again, excellent work (to you and to the phenomenal modders who both worked hard AND trusted you with their work), and I hope this gets better and better with time :D

1- BetterBodies is pluginless in the Overhaul, so no problems :)
2- Vurt's trees are pluginless. The Vality's plugin is for the more trees option. If you don't want it simply uncheck more trees - Ascadian isles ;)

I've installed MGSO today, and I have to say that I like it, even tohugh I know my way around mods and I could download them sparately, this one is very nice for those with limited time or for those that are not mod savy. Good selection of mods! It looks http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/8509/mgescreenshot1.jpg Big thanks for Kingpix and all modders! ;)

Do you have a list of things you're planning for 1.2 hidden around somewhere?

I've been using Xiran's Better Music System for a while now and it has not given me any problems.

Great mod by the way, looking forward to the updates.

I got up to the point where you run MGEgui.exe as administrator, and when I do that it instantly says MGEgui.exe has stopped working. How do I fix this? :brokencomputer:

Edit: Never mind, fixed it. I had to just change the resolution.

Hi guys, the mod looks awesome! I only have one problem with it: the 'froth/foam' of the water looks funny on my computer; it looks like a mass of flickering white pixels unless I'm really close. Is there any way to fix this so they look normal, or to remove the froth/foam without removing the rest of the water effects?

Here's a picture of it:

Thanks guys :)

Yeah, but how do I get rid of it?

I'm sure it looks good for other people, but for me it's just a mess of hard, flickering pixels.

Just use MGE rev 178, but it's better to wait the patch 1.2, there are a fews bugs in the rev 178 included in the pack. Or maybe use this revision http://www.speedyshare.com/files/23543919/d3d8_186_scatter_cloud_v5.zip that includes a InGame.fx without foam.

PS: Web install guide on Google Documents is back!

Ah, ok, thanks very much :)

I've got another problem now: I see black lines on the foliage of distant trees. I'm pretty sure this happened to me a while back as well (a year or so ago: this mod and Rebirth made me reinstall again), but I can't remember how I fixed it back then. I've tried searching, but to no avail.

Thanks for helping out, I really appreciate it :)

Black lines? Could you please take a screenshot?

I think what he's describing can be attributed to Vurt's Ascadian Isles addon.

Probably, but actually I can't play Morrowind, and I don't remember exactly how it looks :P
That's why I asked for a screenshot

Hey guys, I just downloaded and installed a handful of mods, and now all the beautiful grass is completely gone. Here's what I downloaded...

- Tamriel Rebuilt Map 2
- Darknuts Greater Dwemer Ruins Vol 1
- Tamriel Rebuilt Texture Seam Fix
- Bloodmoon Landscape Overhaul
- Quick Char Gen

Would any of these mods break the grass? Or is there something I must've glanced over when regenerating my distant land? Is there any 'quick fix' I could perform? I still have my Morrowind Overhaul Install files handy. Thanks

While generating distant land make sure that you selected the grass plugin from the plugin list in the Dland creation wizard.

OK, I ended up taking off the 'more trees' options for Bitter Coast and Balmora (too many trees for me), played the game and realise I'd forgotten tp run the distant terrain generator again. The distant trees (the ones that disappeared when I got closer due to them actually having been removed) which remained had the black lines. I ran the distant terrain generator and they were gone, problem solved. It must just be a quirk of those specific trees (I was using Vality's) when they're made lower resolution.

Now I've noticed another (minor) issue: I get a strange cross-hatch of light three distant trees. You can see it here:
http://img862.imageshack.us/i/mgescreenshot5b.jpg/

Aside from that, everything's great! The water looks brilliant now that the pixelated foam's gone and I honestly believe the game now looks better than Oblivion

I've been playing around with Rebirth as well (just before I installed this). I'm going to try running this and Rebirth together and hope there aren't too many conflicts. Are they officially compatible? If not, do you guys plan on integrating Rebirth with this amazing mod?

Wow, did I say Vurt? I meant Vality... too many V-names in this damn business.

Anyways, with regards to the screenshot, that is the issue with Vality's trees I was referring to.

Oh, OK, well that explains it at least.

As an update: I've put Rebirth last in the load order, regenerated the distant terrain with it and run it...Evidently, they are not compatible:

Due to Rebirth moving reshaping the landscape, a lot of grass and trees are flying :(

So, any chance you guys plan on adding Rebirth? I would love you even more than I currently do (if that is possible)

Hmmm.. I can't verify now, but I'm sure that I didn't have that issue before...

Yes I'm planning to do a compatible version of rebirth for the overhaul.
