[WIP] Morrowind Perks System

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 7:21 pm

After playing Skyrim for a last week I came back to Morrowind and started implementing some of the Skyrim mechanics right into my beloved game. I've successfully finished implementing the basic perks system for Morrowind using a dialogue window (force greeting after leveling-up character and than picking up one perk for each level from the topic names filtered via globals and PC requirements). Right now I'm slowly adding all the http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Perks that can be done in Morrowind engine and MGE XE (via altering GMSTs in-game). I’m still not sure if I will be using MWSE functions. There are already so many great things that can be achieved without it but additional functionality of MWSE is very tempting :)

Please feel free to share your ideas and additional perks that you would like to see implemented in the Morrowind Perk System.

Are you planning to add "perk trees" to skills that were removed in skyrim ?

I have some fun scripts related to jumping I wrote on another computer, I can find them in case you're doing something with acrobatics. But can't think of anything for it besides controlled "superjump" boosts and jumping strike damage bonuses.

Well since perks are originally from Fallout (or in D&D; Feats), it's curious to see why they add them to Skyrim. Then again, it's just a slightly different leveling system. Can't really say what's better or worse since I haven't touched Skyrim yet... (And probably won't for 2-3 years)

I'm using Skyrim perk list (effects, requirements, perk names) to create "balanced" perks system in Morrowind but it doesn't mean that the perks will be limited only to Skyrim skills - I will take into account all of the vanilla Morrowind skills.

Feel free to post the scripts in here or sent them via PM - I'm looking forward to see what you did there :foodndrink:

Thats interesting.. after leveling up and picking the perk that i want will there be a way for me to see all the perks i've picked before? are you planning to mod de HUD or are you going for an alternative way, like a paper sheet that records everything?

about MWSE i don't have a sigle problem with it..

Journal entries and additional list that you can view at any time by activating "skill book" that automatically open up dialogue window with your perks list (topic names) and corresponding descriptions (once again achieved via dialogue filtering).

This is exactly what I was looking forward to seeing in Morrowind... GREAT!

You have my endorsemant!

I hope the mod will be balanced. If it is, I'm sure it will be pure goodness.
