After many, many years of enjoying the amazing creations of Morrowind's modding community (thank you, everyone!) I finally have something to offer in return, in the hopes that someone will find some use or enjoyment from it.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have questions, or if you find an issue or conflict - I'll do my best to fix both ASAP.
Without further ado, I introduce Morrowind Redecorated, Balmora Edition: Lore-friendly, atmospheric enhancements to many Balmora interiors, to reflect the personality and social status of their owners, make them feel lived in and in some cases, to give NPCs somewhere to sleep!
Readme:

Spoiler
=================

Requirements:
=================
Morrowind
Tribunal
The mod uses some furnishings from the Tribunal expansion. It doesn't require Bloodmoon.
=================
Description:
=================
Many of the houses and shops in Balmora are very generic, and don't reflect the personality and social status of their owners (or any personality at all). Moreover, with Children of Morrowind running, many children have no place to sleep in their assigned "parent"s house. This mod adds extra detail and clutter to nine Balmora interiors (see the Details section below for more precise lists of what I've changed), making them more interesting to visit (and in some cases, a little more profitable to the skilled thief - although I've been careful not to include anything unbalancing).
Homes actually feel lived in now. Everything I've added has a reason to exist - but I leave the interpretation to your imagination. Enjoy!
It uses entirely vanilla resources, and won't overwrite any resources you have installed or invalidate your save games.
The mod has been cleaned with Enchanted Editor, and shouldn't need to be re-cleaned.
=================
Details:
=================
Unless you need these details to diagnose conflicts, I don't recommend reading this section - check it out in game instead! :wink:
Changes were made to the following 10 cells:
Balmora, Clagius Clanler: Outfitter
Balmora, Dorisa Darvel: Bookseller
Balmora, Dralasa Nithryon: Pawnbroker
Balmora, Dralcea Arethi's House
Balmora, Hlaalu Council Manor
Balmora, Nalcarya of White Haven
Balmora, Ra'Virr: Trader
Balmora, Tsiya's House
Balmora, Tyermaillin's House
Balmora, West Gash Region, -3,-2
In the non-COM esp, the changes to Clagius Clanler and Dralcea Arethi's houses are removed.
The mod also adds one book object and changes the path grid for Balmora, Clagius Clanler: Outfitter and Balmora, Tsiya's House to accomodate the changes.
Clagius Clanler: Adds some extra clutter to his shop, all of which is for sale - it felt a little bare before. It also considerably overhauls his living quarters, adding beds for his two children and adding some clutter. These changes aren't present in the non-COM esp.
Dorisa Darvel: Very limited changes; I added a little furniture and moved a few things around for aesthetic effect in her living quarters. I haven't touched the bottom floor at all.
Dralasa Nithryon: I added a trap door to her shop, behind the counter. It leads to a small room underneath the shop - she didn't have anywhere to sleep before!
Dralcea Arethi: Added some bunk beds for her two children and moved a side table that was bleeding into a rug in vanilla. This cell isn't effected in the non-COM esp.
Hlaalu Council Manor: Added a desk with some books on the third floor for the savant Falvel Arenim. What did he do all day before, stand around thinking? Not terribly useful to the Hlaalu!
Nalcarya of White Haven: The interior that initially inspired this mod - her house just didn't befit the "premier mistress of alchemy" before! The shabby furniture has been switched out for furnishings of higher quality, she's been giving a desk (to actually, you know, make potions at) and I've added a few feminine touches as well. I wonder who the flowers on her table are from? :wink:
Ra'Virr: I've added more colour to the house of one of Morrowind's more colourful characters, with many tapestries, rugs and cushions - his shop hasn't been changed much, but his upper floor is a lot more comfortable now - perfect for gatherings of like-minded friends.
Tsiya: Added a lot of clutter, to relieve the emptiness of this cell, including some empty vials scattered about the place - Tsiya is a skooma addict, after all. There is also an extra bed - for the child added by Children of Morrowind. I've included this in the non-COM esp as well, however, since the bed could also conceivably belong to her friend Ernil Omoran.
Tyermaillin: According to his LGNPC dialogue, Tyermaillin is a stylish cad, yet he had nowhere to store his clothes! A cad without his clothes is like a Khajiit without their sugar, don't you agree? So I added a wardrobe for him (and moved a sidetable to accomodate it). I also added a bench, for people accompanying his patients to sit on while they wait (since he's a healer by trade).
Balmora exterior cell: Nothing has been added to this cell; it's marked as changed only because I had to move the door marker in Clagius Clanler's shop so that the player isn't stuck on the new furniture. This isn't effected in the non-COM esp.
I haven't changed any of the taverns in Balmora. Instead, I recommend the following mods:
South Wall, Den of Iniquity by Balastruthius
The Seedy Plates by Von Django
Lucky Lockup Additions by Midgetalien
=================
Installation:
=================
1. Extract this archive to any folder and then copy the contents to Morrowind's Data Files folder.
2. Start Morrowind Launcher, click Data Files, and enable either:
Morrowind Redecorated - Balmora v1.esp (recommended)
OR
Morrowind Redecorated - Balmora v1 - no extra beds for COM.esp -- if you don't use Children of Morrowind and the thought of having beds for NPCs that don't exist really bugs you. This esp is found in the Extras folder.
=================
Un-Installation:
=================
1. Save your game in a cell, preferably an interior, that isn't affected by this mod, and close Morrowind.
2. Start Morrowind Launcher, click Data Files, and disable the Morrowind Interior Decoration - Balmora.esp file(s).
3. Delete the .esp file from your Morrowind/Data Files folder.
=================
Compatibility:
=================
No conflicts that I'm aware of. Any mod that edits any of the same cells as this one have the possibility of conflicting, but in practice I don't know of any that do.
If you find a mod that conflicts, please let me know so I can update this and create a patch.
Particular Notes:
Should be loaded before any lighting mods such as TLM, so that their ambient lighting changes can take effect. I've cleaned this mod of the automatic ambience changes the CS makes, but it's still a good idea to load this earlier just in case.
Compatible with Children of Morrowind (it was made as a companion mod of sorts, although it doesn't require COM) - Clagius Clanler, Tsiya and Dralcea Arethi's children now have beds to sleep in.
Compatible with Morrowind Rebirth - my changes were designed with Rebirth in mind, so there should be no conflicts.
=================
Known Issues:
=================
If you run the full version without Children of Morrowind installed, some NPCs will have extra beds for children that don't actually exist, which may seem strange. Please use the "non-COM" version in the Extras folder if that bothers you. The mod itself will run perfectly fine without COM installed though.

Absolutely no need to worry :smile: It just means that someone is using infected computers to send extra traffic to the Nexus to overwhelm their servers - what that means for you is that the site might be slow or unresponsive for a while, but it won't affect your computer in any way.

The Nexus admins have a news post that should explain better, but the tl;dr is that it might be annoying but it's not a threat to you.

Sounds great, there are so many mods which overhaul the exterior of Balmora, but not the interiors. Looking forward to this one!

You're welcome. And just think of your multiple hosts as insurance against loss. ;)
