morrowind ---->skip------> on to skyrim

Post » Tue Sep 20, 2011 2:45 am

I really didnt get into oblivion well because of the leveling system just really bored me to just turn off the game and play something else, i just couldnt play casually without gimping my character...anyways.

Is skyrim its own game? Or is it continuing where oblivion left off at? If not then ill just wiki oblivion story line for a feel of the game.

You don't have to play Oblivion to understand what is going on in Skyrim

It's a great game, and you should at some point play it (especially with mods where you can fix the leveling system), but you don't have to play it before Skyrim. The plots aren't related or anything.

I would recommend playing Oblivion, but not because you need it for storyline, just because I think it's an amazing game :)

But if you've already tried Oblivion, and it wasn't for you, then no, you don't need to play Oblivion to play Skyrim. The connection is really really loose. It's not a direct sequel or a continuation of the story. Skyrim in a way does pick up from where Oblivion left off, but not in a way that you need to have played Oblivion to get it.

I suggest playing it, Oblivion controls will be similar to skyrim so it will be a good intermediate to start getting used to skyrim.

Also, it is actually pretty fun to play once you get in to it.

Do you "have" to play it? No, you really don't "have" to play any of them if you don't want to. If you didn't want to play Skyrim, no-one's forcing you to play that either. ;) But, you aren't missing a ton in Oblivion... I'd say if you have time, play it, just for the storyline. If you don't have time, or don't feel like playing Oblivion, maybe read up a little on the Wiki just for your own edification.

Rly though, I never played ANY of the previous games.. But I've been watching so many Lets Plays.. And read the hell out of the wiki, so I feel like I have been here all along :vaultboy:

Oblivion is the greatest game I've ever played. Also, the only game that I haven't fully beat yet has kept me playing for 5 years on and off. My only complaint was the level-scaling.

I'd skip it, but you shouldn't ask this. It's up to you if you want to load your brains with another experience of this size and so late.

No, he shouldn't, your just being a Morrowind elitist, Oblivion was a great game, and if you can't see that, your blind.
