morrowind vs skyrim?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:54 am

morrowind is the pinnacle of TES series and probably the greatest RPG there is.

although oblivion was a spectacular game, it is not the masterpiece MW was.

MW truly threw you into a god forsaken world, and left you with nothing but tattered clothes, a rusty dagger and no knowledge of this strange, unknown country.

I predict skyrim will suffer greatly if it does not create that same sense of trepidation one felt upon taking the first steps away from seyda neen.

In skyrim, I want to feel insignificant, I want to feel like death waits around every corner... I dont want people coming up to me asking me to save the world, I want to be called scum and be treated like a peasent. I want the world to be unaware of my presence and for nature to be unforgiving.

I have to agree with you there, I'm not sure how much it had to do with being my first proper experience with RPG's, but it was amazing. I'm hopeful that Skyrim will be a fantastic experience too, and from what we've heard it's setting up to be.

Most people probably thought the same when Oblivion was first announced, lets wait for the release. :P

I have good hope though. I don't care if it's better than Morrowind, because I'm sure both games will have their own strengths and weaknesses, as long as it's GOOD.

Skyrim will have the epicness of Daggerfall, the immersion of Morrowind and will surpass the technological advances of oblivion.

It will be the best game ever!

I don't think it will be as great as Morrowind, but so far Skyrim looks very promising. We will see.

In Morrowind I just found everything interesting and intriguing. I wanted to explore every inch of that island. That's the way I hope I'll feel when I first play Skyrim. I love Oblivion as well, for the record.

Daggerfall pretty much offered everything you just listed. Take it you never played it?

I have no doubt that Skyrim will be the modern TES we have all been waiting for. I predict its going to make both Morrowind and Oblivion look like stepping stones. Of course no matter how magnificent it will be, you are always going to have people bash it because its not going to be like their favorite elderscrolls game. I am most likely going to say stuff like "Oh, this should have been more like in Daggerfall." But like Oblivion, I will still love the game. And from what I have heard, it sounds like I will love it even more than both Morrowind and Oblivion. No, I don't believe I am pegging my hopes up to high. I do believe I am being realistic.

I love people who think their opinions are undoubtedly right. I, for one, consider Oblivion to be the masterpiece that Morrowind isn't.

my point is... skyrim needs to feel like a dangerous, unstable country.

cyrodil was like taking a stroll in the english countryside. One never had to be one their wits.

the world needs to feel hostile, like it doesn't want you there. In MW, walking through molag mar in a duststorm... I felt like an unwanted guest. Cyrodil took every oppurtunity to make you comfortable and hey take some time to admire the view.

Skyrim must bring back the rugged, fight for survival aspect.

If you mean bring back a boring, barren wasteland with hostile creatures dotted everywhere in an annoying manner, then yes, I agree. Morrowind did have something great, by that criteria, in my opinion. I don't want that, though.

Vanilla Oblivion?

It is whatever you consider the PS3 GOTY edition of Oblivion to be. That's the only version I've ever played and it is my favorite game of all time.

For me Morrowind was all about the sense of unique culture. Bethesda really nailed it that time. :obliviongate:

For those who started with Morrowind, no game will ever come close. The impact of first contact with a Tes game is huge and lifechanging. I guess it's the same with people who started with Daggerfall or Oblivion. I have confidence that Skyrim will be more like Morrowind in culture and story, but there are some directions that were changed completely in Oblivion and (unfortunately for some) they were mass appealing, so I don't think Beth will ever go back to the kind of gameplay where you must actually put more effort like in Morrowind. That's why I can tell that Morrowind will always be my number one, although I'm very excited about Skyrim and I'm sure I'll love it and play it till the dvd is worn, like I did with Oblivion.

Skyrim will definitely be better than Morrowind. I mean, Skyrim is better than Oblivion and Oblivion is better than Morrowind, so it's inherent. Now a question I have is, will Skyrim be better than Daggerfall.

Thank you, hopefully people realize it as truth if you say it because no one listens to me when I say that because Morrowind isn't my favorite so no one takes my word as credible <_<

I think skyrim easily takes it.

- better AI
-combat
-varied dungeons
-great voice acting
hopefully unique items like in fallout 3

I see no reason why it shouldnt blow everything we've seen out o the water. I mean they have a 100 person team and a band new engine to boot

Well that's your opinion, my opinion is Daggerfall is the pinnacle of TES

but Skyrim imo if it's not better than Morrowind, it will come pretty damn close to it
