Hi,
My goal has been to help people get the opportunity to enjoy such marvellous mods produced by the great community of Morrowind modders in the most user-friendly way.
My work came down to assembling the many mods and building a user-friendly quick installer with a videotutorial guide to make it possible for people to appreciate the outstanding jewel that modded Morrowind is.
I have expressedly mentioned in the readme's the mods contained in the compilation and the authors who created them, as well as mentioning that ALL I DID was to build the installer and the guide in order to make the compilation work, nothing more than that.
Sincerely, King_Pix.
All intentions well. but what happens when an author wants to update his mod etc? If the readme says you can use it, surly you can, however in some of those readmes it's written in their own words about permissions etc. It's a great compilation and I agree it is time consuming to put things together yourself so It will surly help many new people however please do go through all neccesary trouble to ask permissions first, not only include readme.
That you credit people is one thing, that's all good. Permission on the other hand has to do with a lot of other things. There has been so much hiahatus about this through the history of the forums, modders quitting because of it.
If you feel that it is truly worth releasing something when you know it can damage so many who helped contribute to modding, then go ahead, but I know that I would not feel good at all if I used someone else's work without permission.
I hope you see the reason behind this because I believe your intentions are good. It's a good idea =)
Keep it up =) and respect others if they would not give permission. I'm sure if you ask you'd get mostly OKs. But if you don't ask, people will get angry, I don't think you want that.
