Ah, Morrowind.

I miss the days when you could find the entire shop inventory in a chest then go next door and sell it. Or kill him and steal everything, then sell it.

More Morrowind guff? Really?

You have seen the thousands of threads gushing over how absolutely wonderful that game was, right? How about you move on over to one of those.

Anyone who disses Morrowind, never played it. It's funny how times change. Now you can barely get anything out of a shop if you kill the shopkeeper.

It's actually making me develop a bit of a grudge towards Morrowind, to be quite honest.

I love Morrowind to death, but the Morrowind elitists that are coming out of the wood works are tainting the greatness of that game for me.

I 'diss' Morrowind, and I played it A LOT. It has not aged well, at all. It's a pile of guff compared to lots of games nowadays.

Seriously, go play Morrowind and get over it. No one cares about how you feel about your epic game.

really so there was nothing wrong about Morrowind's animation, encyclopedia NPCs that stand in one place, combat system, or speed not to mention the graphics and the 30ft draw distance?

I loved Morrowind too and just like Oblivion and Skyrim it had it's flaws (Most of them hardware limitations at the time), however I don't think there's much good that can come from this thread strictly discussing Morrowind in no way that is a comparison to Skyrim.

Agree. Its these little things that are constantly getting removed for no reason. They matter a lot. They make the game feel less shallow.

i played it for something like half a year and it remained an average game. probably the most overrated RPG in history. skyrim is better.

Over rated in terms of how people are acting now, 10 years later, as if it is some holy artifact hand crafted by the Gods themselves to single handedly redeem the world and rid it of all evil.

I still feel that it's the best RPG ever made - not including Skyrim.

The game wouldnt be broken. It would be realistic.

It was a good game then and is still today, but this should be in the Morrowind forum. :)

those statements are independent of each other, while the game would be realistic it could still be broken

Same, I love Skyrim but it really is missing some of those little touches, like properly lootable shops and more hand placed and hidden rewards that aren't tied directly to any quests and are just there to find. It's beautiful to travel across and there is a sense of adventure that was lacking in Oblivion, but the fruits of said adventures still feel all the same and generic.

I remember sneak-ganking Trebonius as soon as went to Vivec for the necromancer's amulet on a run where I decided to ignore the mages' guild, in the Skyrim or Oblivion's worlds he'd have been essential and if he weren't he would have probably just forked over some randomly generated level appropriate* loot <_<

*The entire notion of level appropriate loot needs to be done away with.

I value realism more than care about a slight imbalance. Besides its an rpg and if you dont play the role of a guy who murders shopkeeps and steals their stuff then dont. If you do then thats your benefit. Balance doesnt come before realism and role playing in a single player rpg. And not every shop in town has the amount of stuff that throws the game off balance. Those who do would probably have some guards

Ahh, Daggerfall! I miss being able to crack all locks with the cheapest possible spell, walk into a a store at night and steal everything with zero chance of being caught and then sell it all to the same guy in the morning!

Seriously, I do miss the unique, lootable shops in Morrowind. The only balance feature it needed was or an NPC to call the guards if he saw you wielding the unique weapon you removed from his table the previous night.

Skyrim does this a little better than Oblivion. Raiding alchemy shops is worth the effort and finding strong boxes next to sleeping merchants is fun. The rest is uninteresting, though, and the houses aren't worth the effort in most cases.
