When it's completed? you ask. I'm referring to the "final version" of Morrowind that includes not Tribunal, Bloodmoon, and the official plug-ins but all of the completed great modding projects. Not only will Morrowind look and feel modern with Morrowind Overhaul's final version (not only graphics and sounds, but also the gameplay pack and any others they have planned) but it will encompass all of Tamriel. As of today we have Tamriel Rebuilt, Province: Cyrodiil, Skyrim: Home of the Nords, High Rock 427 and Project Outreach: Elsweyr; I'm almost certain that with five fully fleshed out lore accurate provinces, the other four will be made as well (that is if they aren't being worked on now as well) especially when new games surface which help put a face on a lesser known province. At that point while the game world maybe smaller than enormous randomly generated ones (such as Minecraft and Daggerfall) the level of content will be many times higher. Even when compared to it's online equivalent in TESO or it forerunner in Arena the Tamriel of Morrowind, which may possibly be smaller in area than the TESO redition, will almost certainly have more content and depth than the other two could hope to have.
Of course I couldn't conclude without speaking of the wonders of such projects as Open Morrowind and Project Aurora. With a new modern engine all the current issues of Morrowind that couldn't be fixed with mods or patches can be completely circumvented. It's one thing to have Skyrim's graphics and all of Tamriel on the Morrowind engine, but it is another to add modern mechanics, flexibility and optimization to Morrowind's aging infrastructure.
So for everyone who actually manged to read through my wall of text, answer and debate the question that started it all.
Will Morrowind eventually be the largest handcrafted video game experience ever?
Regardless of your anwser I hope we can all look forward to Morrowind: Ultimate Edition!
