Actually, I never played the other games. This was a rather strange combination:

I expected demos and maybe shooters or just a bunch of old and/or unpopular games. But Morrowind was a complete surprise.

I got it from a local used media shop. Books, movies, games, music, even vinyls.

The case I picked up was the standard Morrowind, but then in-game I saw conversation options for Solstheim. Puzzled, knowing that Solstheim was only available in Bloodmoon, I opened the disc tray to find that the disc I had been given was that of the GotY edition. I was ecstatic.

Dad bought the original in 2002, I still have the CD, but not the cardboard box. We then bought the GOTY, but lost it. I then bought a sealed copy on ebay years later, then I finally got the Steam version just a few weeks ago.

Many winters back when I was an even younger lad than I am now, my father and I took a trip to the local best buy, and what did we see, collecting dust in the bargain bin? Morrowind, and the GOTY edition to boot. I have many fond memories of playing that game, late into the night.

Unfortunately, that copy, my very first TES game, has been lost to time. I've moved many different times, so it's probably rotting in a landfill somewhere.

Thankfully, I now own 2 copies. One, is the regular Morrowind, which I bought from a "classic" video game store, and the other is the GOTY edition, that one of my friends asked if I would like to have. You can only imagine my excitement, I hadn't played Morrowind in ages

I played a pirated version for years (Ten years ago, original games had astronomical prices in my country, but I know this is not an excuse ). Last year, however, I bought both a physical and a digital copy (the digital one was from Steam).

By the way, I think Steam is one of most revolutionary ideas of 21st century. Since it went online, I have never played any pirated games, thanks to regular sales and promotions.

I don′t think I′ve bought a game in a real life store since the ′90s

That said I only buy physical copies with no strings attached.

In 2007, after a friend bought me an xbox on which I played nothing other than NFL football, I was browsing a gamestop and saw morrowind original for $5. Far and away the best $5 I have ever spent. Last summer I bought a 360 merely for the purpose of playing skyrim, TES games are about the only thing I play. Morrowind is probably going to always top my list of favorites

In the first part of 2004 I was shopping at Wal-Mart and I happened to have an extra $20 in my pocket. I was looking at games in the "cheap" bin and I looked at a bunch of games before I decided to take a chance on Morrowind. On a complete whim, my future gaming experiences changed drastically. I spent the next 2 years playing that game solely. In fact, it was a game that I played until January of 2008 on a fairly regular basis. I stopped playing it when I bought my Xbox 360 and because the game was not willing to be played for more than an hour without it freezing and the load times were DREADFUL.

Yeah those loads times were horrible. I remember trying it after playing the PC version and the initial load time felt like 5 minutes. God forbid you messed up and had to reload.

The first time I got Morrowind was waaaaaaay back in middle school. I had rented RE4 and thought it was awesome and started telling my friend about it. He said that he was getting back into some game he'd gotten two years ago called "Morrowind" and started telling me how awesome it was. We decided to make a trade for a short time. He'd borrow RE4, I borrowed Morrowind.

I hated it...created a custom class with Intelligence and Strength and absolutely no magic skills. I bought a set of armor at Arilles, ran head-first into what I' find out much later were the Ashlands and was immediately impaled by a Cliffracer.

A few days later I rolled a mage figuring that casting spells seemed to be more reliable in my opinion than the weird melee combat system.
loved it ever since.

When it was time to trade back he just said I could keep it since he'd apparently bought the GOTY edition while I still had his pre-expansion Morrowind.

fast-foward to freshman year of highschool I found GOTY edition for PC in a bargain bin and bought it then.

now I'm in college and still playing that game, funny, since that friend completely forgot about Morrowind and TES while I still enjoy MW.

When I first played Morrowind I told all of my friends about it and they decided to play it themselves. Strangely enough, none of them liked it. They liked the exploring aspect of it but they despised the feel that it had. I still talk about the game to my friends but nobody really seems too interested in it anymore and I'm still in love with it.

My first TES game was Skyrim.... I asked a friend if he knew any good game that let you create and customize your character, and he said that in Skyrim, one can go anywhere and do anything. That sounded great to me.

After playing Skyrim some time, I was curious about the older TES games and Tamrielic history, so I bought Oblivion, and now Morrowind. I'm doing it backwards

It's fun, the world is interesting, and I like that you actually can wear clothes under armor. Only thing I'm not happy with so far, is the limited character creation. My dude looks good allright, but I'd like to be able to change nose, eyes etcetera.

Back in 2003 or 2004 my brother had subscribed to a magazine of some sort. One day, with the magazine, he had received three free games; vanilla Morrowind + Construction Set, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear: Black Thorn (that's a mouthful) and Worms Blast. Around 2008 or 2009 the game disc was scratched and while Morrowind could still be played, I got a new computer and the installation couldn't stop past ~30%. So last year I bought the GotY edition on sale from Steam.

I was graciously given vintage CDs of Morrowind, Tribunal and Bloodmoon by Pseron Wyrd, a member of these forums. He has been pestering me to play this game since the day he bought it. I finally agreed to play it a few months ago. He carefully packaged everything up with instructions and sent them to me in the mail. He has been coaching me through the early levels of the game. Thank you, sweetie! You're a doll.

GOTY box set purchased in 2003. Later on, I broke my GOTY box set Tribunal disc after almost ten years together (or my brother did, he stepped on it ), and had to acquire a new GOTY one-disc version of the game just a few months ago. Totally svcked.

Well since you ask so nicely

And I won′t even derail the thread! I got the Collector′s Edition from ebay, unused! It hadn′t even been opened! Pretty expensive but soooo worth it! When I realised I would have it alone together with the Morrowind GotY, I also wanted the original boxes in order to fill in the blanks. Said and done, I ordered them off an online store (yet again pretty expensive) and I now have a http://i.imgur.com/AOs7AnW.jpg

I also got a few other collections, take a look at my siggy. If I PM you, will you find it and read?

GOTY Box Set. Although I must say I'd like to get the Collector's Edition and individual original releases for each expansion pack just for collector's sake.
