Morrowind - Where did you get yours?

Yeah I know, I just wanted to see what the combined map looked like but it′s awright. The pic was small and tilted the wrong way but at least it was clear

It was 2005, my eldest brother (who was moved out) had bought it (Xbox version) and wasn't a fan. He gave it to me and I fell in love and bought the PC GOTY edition in 2008. I've been playing it all those years and still do, but for some reason I haven't ever beaten any of the MQs or guilds. Kinda embarrassed by that fact.

Why? I′ve played Oblivion since Feb 2007 and I haven′t even begun the MQ or the DB. I also have a bunch of unfinished quests which most likely will stay that way

Heh, I guess I just feel that I should eventually get to the meat of the game that's been out over 10 years.

But I still love it and will get around to it eventually.

I never understood that. Granted I never touched any quest during my first Morrowind playthrough (well I was 9, understood little English and it was my first RPG but hey ). But I slowly began doing them on subsequent playthroughs.

Right now, only House Telvanni and Tribunal Temple remains.

Well, I guess it has to do with the fact these games aren′t linear. Or let me put it this way; If you open up the door to the rabbit cage, all the rabbits will most likely run in all directions and that′s exactly what I do when faced with a non-linear game

First copy came with an Asus GForce ti4800

Second copy was a GOTY retail boxset.

Still have both.

Well, as I always say, some people play these games to be told a story and some people play these games to tell their own stories. I like to tell myself stories. I'm not much interested in being told a story by someone else. So I tend to not do very many quests.

In fact I have just this years gone back and started doing all the Oblivion quests I've never done. I finished the Mages Guild last summer for the very first time. I just finished the Dark Brotherhood. And I am now doing the Thieves Guild for the first time. I've only done Oblivion's main quest once (I've also done Morrowind's and Skyrim's main quests just once). I have only done two or three quests in Shivering Isles. And I doubt I'll ever do any more of them.

I see the Elder Scrolls games as - and this is another metaphor I use a lot - blank canvasses on which I paint my own pictures. To me, following someone else's story, doing someone else's quest line, is like drawing one of those connect-the-dots pictures some of used to do as kids. I don't want to connect someone else's dots. That doesn't interest me. I want to make my own dots and then have the fun of connecting them myself.

Yeah, I hear you and for a large part I do that too. I just want to have done every big questline (though I admit I only did Oblivion's main quest once too, perhaps twice). Morrowind's main quest on the other hand I did at least 3 times perhaps even 5 or 6.

I think the first copy of Morrowind I got was a single-disk edition containing only the main game itself - neither of the expansions were included. This was well after both Bloodmoon and Tribunal had been released. Possibly 2005 or 2006; the PC I had before that (an IBM Thinkpad 390 with 2.5 megs of VRAM) couldn't handle Morrowind. I then bought a version of the Game of the Year Edition that came on four disks; some years later I bought a spare copy that came on a single DVD (issued by a UK gaming mag, if I'm not mistaken).

I got my first copy of Morrowind bundled with a graphics card too. That didn't prevent me from buying the retail box later, on the contrary. This seems like a great way to make a game known, has Skyrim been bundled with graphics cards yet?

Got my copy from Fred Meyer in 2002 for PC (We don't have Target in Fairbanks and we didn't get Wal-Mart until I was in the 5th grade). I had just started playing RPGs with Diablo and Diablo 2, but the freedom and realism of Morrowind blew those 2 games out of the water. Since I was really young I didn't follow the release of the expansions so I bought Bloodmoon before I bought Tribunal, and had to deal with the problems caused by installing Bloodmoon before Tribunal.

I only recently got morrowind, loved oblivion and skyrim and bought both morrowind GOTY and oblivion GOTY (as I only had the standard version) in the steam sale. Absolute bargains for how many hours I'll get from them.

I do both; I play some games to connect other′s dots and I play some games to create and follow my own dots. TES games are the latter

Good metaphors by the way

Purchased the original retail version, the same with Tribunal and then Bloodmoon when they came out.

I got into Morrowind after rifling through my boyfriend's old Xbox games. He had an old copy, and it wasn't long before I managed to snag the GOTY version from a friend. Years on, I finally got a PC that can handle all of my dream mods, so I picked up a PC GOTY on eBay. It's time for another go-'round at last. Wish me luck.

My current copy that I'm playing now was one I downloaded from Steam, which has Bloodmoon and Tribunal.

I used to have a boxed GOTY years ago that I played until my computer crashed.

I also have a Platinum edition copy of the Morrowind for the XBox which I got from a used game store. It even has the map and game manual with it.

I got mine as a free game when I purchased a new PC in... 2004 or so, I think. It wasn't in a Morrowind box. It was in some blue case that had a few other games in it as well. Needless to say those other discs never saw the light of day, while Morrowind sees frequent and continual use.

Years later I purchased the GOTY edition, and then a few years after that a family friend gave me a standalone copy of both expansions. So I have two full sets of Morrowind I've cobbled together over the last decade.

I purchased my game when MW first came out. Later I purchased Tribunal when it came out. Bloodmoon I waited on and got it when they came out with a GOTY version of MW and so I purchased that.

GotY edition disc for xbox. I had no idea what an Elder Scrolls game was all about, and I thought I knew what an RPG was. I bought the game at EB, and left it at the phone booth. I didn't realize until I got to the mall, so I went back and paid 60 bucks for the game all over again. I have no idea why I did that, I didn't even know if I would like the game, but it was fate. It became my favourite game my far.

Actually, 3 of the 4 possibilities. At first, I bought the original game, shortly after it came out. Unfortunately, I lost the CD later and wasn't able to play the game for months, because I was low on funds and my old PC acted up a lot. Then, at my anniversary, I received enough money and gift certificates to build a new rig, and guess what, the graphic card came bundled with 6 games, among them Morrowind. A couple of years later I bought the GOTY to get the expansions.
