Morrowind Writing Contest

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 8:25 pm

After playing the game for the past hour, I have been urging to read more about the land of Morrowind, back before that giant rock completely wrecked everything that we loved about the place, so I have decided to make a writing contest that will go on unti Febuary 14th.

The topic is as the title has said, about Morrowind. You can write about how it was before the rock came, or maybe after? Write about how shoes kicked all the Argonians into Fargoth's secret erotica stash! Anything you can come up with, as long as it is related to the land of Morrowind!

I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

Yeah. The idea is they are short stories, so I see no reason not to clutter the forum with dozens of seperate threads for one thing.

I should stay off the forums past 9:00 PM from now on.

So this can basically be any story that took place in Morrowind?

Eh, I'll go for it. At worst I'll svck, and at best I'll still svck, so I have nothing to lose. I think I'll do something starring my Warp in the East character (although you definitely won't have to have read Warp in the East to read the story).

It's been a while since I wrote anything based on Morrowind...but I suppose I can give it a try! :D There has been something I've been working on lately, with the release of Skyrim. It kinda obviously takes place after Morrowind is, well, destroyed. You said we can write about any time period of Morrowind, right? And does that include being outside of Morrowind?

It can be any time period yes, but it depends what you mean on being outside Morrowind? The idea of the contest is that the stories are based inside Morrowind, so as long as you can have that be the case for a strong portion of the story, all will be well.

I am currently writing one. The story takes place in Morrowind(mostly), and will revolve around the slaves from House Telvanni and gladiators with some flashbacks in Cyrodil(Doesn't know if that counts). But the story itself will take place in Morrowind in the Vivec Arena, Kwama mines/Ore mines/plantations and the Mansions of House Telvanni.

Now you have me excited :P

I am sorta writing two. A Lovecraft style short story, and something that is part of a large project.

Interesting. What is yours about?

I fear my story is not really short, as it will span a few years. Maybe twenty chapters or so. And to add to that problem, Morrowind is not my field of experitse hehe.

The short story is about the Sixth House, and the other project (which will be long like yours) is about a young and rash Telvanni Noble who is caught in the midst of a house war.

Nice. Perhaps you can give me a few pointers as to how House Telvanni works. I have played Morrowind, but I only did a few quests before a mod I downloaded screwed up some of the game for me.

Sure. The Telvanni are basically the non-conformist rule breakers of all the Great Houses. They best meet the iconic "Secluded Evil Wizard" image. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Telvanni.

I read half of it at school, plan to finish it after dinner. This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to read! Something that really captures the atmosphere of Morrowind, and so far I think you have done an amazing job with the horror and dark legacy feel of it.

Keep in mind you all are allowed to submit more than one thing for this contest! The more, the better! Let those imaginations flow

Oh boy! I thought the narration was a bit rushed, myself, and i could use a good re-write, but i don't care enough. Glad you enjoy it.

This poem takes place on Solthseim during 3E 427.

The wolves are coming,
They stand like humans,
Pounce like demons,
The wolves are coming,
Their claws are sharp,
Their teeth sharper,
The wolves are coming,
Clever they are,
They're not far,
The wolves are coming.

Lol, just made it up xD
