Morrowind on xbox

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2009 7:06 am

I have been a big fan of oblivion and have put many hours into it on the 360 and PC version. Unfortunately my PC is having problems, and I can't afford to replace the parts I need for a long while. I was going to start playing morrowind with a bunch of mods on my pc but now I cannot.

Should I, after being spoiled by oblivion on console and then modded oblivion, still pick up morrwind goty on the xbox and play it on my 360?

EDIT: I have never played morrowind before.

Absolutely get it. Even vanilla on the console is a fantastic game. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Morrowind_for_Oblivion_Players, and remember the game is almost nine years old.

Was just reading that actually. Is there any problems I might run into while running it on my 360?

In my opinion, you should. It is a great game: deep politics, compelling storyline, warring factions, unique environment just to name a few of my favorites. you should read http://uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Morrowind_for_Oblivion_Players.

Yes!

I'm playing it these days, on pc, but there is no big in-game differences as far as I remember. After almost six years with Oblivion and Fallout it is still strongly entertaining to me. I knew it well back then, but so much is forgotten, that I almost have impacts of first-time immersion sometimes... And it is good for a lore brush-up, ex. on the Dwemers, if you need some of that.
I may be a victim of Morrowind-nostalgia, but I would put my head on the block for this game, nevertheless. So here is my recommendation.

I've heard the loading times are pretty long.

Once you get pretty far, even on the original Xbox (don't know if it's worse on the 360) the load times get very, very long. And to begin they are merely very long.

One of the only downsides is loading time. Everything else is great. You don't really need mods either, there is a ton of stuff you can do (especially with alchemy and enchanting) that make your character into whatever you want. There a ton of tricks you can exploit too. I'd give it a 10 out of 10 even on the console.

You can do it, but the begining it is hard to do. I was spoiled by the mods on the PC. BUT I did get use to playing on the 360. Problem for me, was I was getting tired getting lost in caves because for what ever reason, I was having problems with local maps, and they were not displayed properly for me, so I went back to playing Morrowind on the PC just because of that.

If it wasn't for that, then I would still be playing on the 360. So yes it can be done. It's better than not playing it at all when you want to.
