You're probably doing them too fast. That's most people's problem when they try to improve their execution in fighting games. Fast is not always good, because combos need to link together.

Yeah for ease of play in fightning games, MK has the simplest mechanics.

Might get the game, but it's not really a serious fighting game to me. Might be fun for a week or two, though.

If your talking about gameplay then yeah it's not as complex as Tekken (Tekken 5 was ridiculous since even at the easisest difficulty I either took 1 or 20 times to beat Jinpachi) nor as simple as Soul Calibur (seriously borrowed the 4th from a friend and it was very cool but...simple when in comparison to Tekken). Mortal Kombat is in between so it's pretty good

Yall already know Im a huge MK fan, and this webseries is basically taking the MK characters in its own direction (so far has little to do with the video game storyline). However I was highly entertained and thought I would share it with you all. It just debuted about a half hour ago.

I don't see anything wrong with that video. Surely, it's not "Mortal Kombat", more like a backstory of the whole Sonya/Jax chasing Kano plot etc.

It's more so the inclusion of a block button in a 2D fighter. That pretty much cuts out a whole level of depth where the strength of 2D fighters lies. Like, it totally gets rid of crossups, which is a big part of any respectable 2D fighter, and makes the combat a lot more just dealing chip damage on block (never good) until you can build up some meter to break through.

That to me sounds like you are theorizing about it, and havent played it, Mortal Kombat is not a contest of chip damage I can assure of that.

Anyway Machinima is going to do live gameplay (Full Game not Demo) feed in about 2 and half hours:

I have played quite a lot of the demo, and I'm very familiar with UMK3 as well (which pretty much is a series defining game). You also didn't read my post.
Since there's no crossup, the only way to deal damage is either catching someone off guard, or using your frame advantages to hit them with a higher priority move. And since special moves come out a lot faster, especially the overhead ones, there's no reason why you don't want to build meter. That's exactly why I've never liked the block button in 2D fighters, because it lowers the skill ceiling.
Unless you can suggest a better strategy? I'm always looking to improve my fighting game skills.

As I said, it'll be pretty fun for a while but I doubt we'll see much of it at evo (it's only going to be there because of the revenue that comes along with it) or very much high level play.
