Most accurate map of Tamriel?

Post » Sun Nov 28, 2010 1:47 am

Hey guys.
What is the most accurate map of Tamriel we have? In terms of scale, borders, features etc.

Also, are there any terrain maps of Tamriel?

I need this for a project. The more accurate the better.

Thanks.

Maybe I just don't know but, it's hard to say, I'm not sure if they've created such a map yet... but like I said, I don't really know.

http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t261/crpggeek/TamrielMap.jpg is by Bethesda, and is the most cannon map we have.

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i201/Vality7/TamrielMap.jpg though it was made by a fan, is based on heavy research into the series, and in my opinion is better (and accurate.)

The Bethesda map was drawn on a pie.

I think.

The Beth map looks positively devoid of settlements.

The fan map makes Cyrodiil look even more empty and unsettled than it was in TES IV. What sort of "Heart of the Empire" has fewer cities than every other province?

And it includes half a dozen single-structure "villages."

Those weren't villages, those were.... I don't know, hermit communes? The cities were hamlets. The city should take longer to walk from end-to-end than it takes me to walk down my driveway.

Yes, now imagine the sheer size of the Imperial city.

The kind of heavy research that accurately depicts Pyandonea based on a five pixel blob and states that Akavir is 4200 miles away based on the time it took people to get there, divided by the hypothetical speed of a fleet we know nothing of.

I usually use http://www.imperial-library.info/maps/cyrodiillargelowrescr7.jpg, yet I notice it has significant differences from the one above.

And when you look to Vvardenfell you see there were many villages left out... like Raven Rock, Khuul and Seyda Neen.. wic were all bigger then for example Drakelowe and Weatherleah.. wow... he even noted some inns as villages in Cyrodiil....

The one that's roughly the size of the Imperial territory of Solstheim?

I never realised how big that island was until now.

Gargantuan, and you can bet some people rarely see the light of day thanks to the layers of construction built ontop of their neighborhoods. The entire shoreline of the mainland is ringed with harbors and satellite cities, but good luck getting a ferry, let alone seeing the island until late the next day, as conjested shipping lanes and floating manors grind traffic to a halt. Beware of falling levitators.

Holy crumb! I didn't even realize that. I mean, Solstheim was big. The IC is... well, Vivec is bigger (I mean the city, not Vehk).

Psh, don't lie to us or yourself. Everyone knows Vehk is definitely bigger.

But now that you mention it, Solstheim is about the size of the, if not larger, than the IC island. Shame :meh:

Pyandonea is the home of the Maormer, an elven race often (probably incorrectly, if the Altmer are talking out of their a***s again) said to be descended from exiles from the Summerset Isles. They inhabit the region along with sea serpents, and their land is said to be many tropical islands covered in mist which makes navigation by ships not used to the region almost impossible.

That would be an interesting setting for an RP or a mod.
