Most amount of time you put in a single character?

Post » Wed Aug 14, 2013 8:10 pm

I am sure there are many people around who have had multiple, if not dozens, of characters. But what is the most amount of time you've put in a single character? I myself, have only played as one single character since release who is a level 67 Imperial, and I've put about 550 hours into him (which is obviously my total for the game itself as well). Just a character that I have grown to love.

What's the most you've put in a character (if you can at least remember)? If you want, you can specify what level they were before you finally retired them.

My most played character was called Yngol Storm-Blade who died after 300 hours so deleted him.
My 2nd highest is a Nord called Finna who's save corrupt after 154 hours.
My 3rd higest was an altmer called Farela who had over 100 hours and died so I deleted her.

My first, with 140 hours.

I had to delete him because the game had become so laggy it was literally unplayable.

That was before the time when I finally learned that disabling autosave options made a huge difference. And of course, there are the patches that only came later.

As for the level, he was lvl 41. Funnily enough, I've had characters reach a higher level in fewer hours.

I only make one character on Elder Scrolls games and I just do everything possible with him. I don't see the need to make more than one character. Why focus on making separate mage, stealthy assassin, etc. characters when you can just max out everything and be good at it all? My character on Skyrim is Muhammad, Argonian, level 252. I have about 400 hours with him. On Oblivion, my character is Tariq, Redguard, either high 80's or 90's, don't remember. I have 650 hours with him.

About 300 with my second character. The "do all the guilds" character. What a mess. About level 55 with perks everywhere. Haven't done the Clown Brotherhood, the Thugs Guild or The companions since then. And that was 2011. Shows how terrible those questlines are.

Different characters, different personalities, different playstyles. More replayability, more roleplaying, more immersive. This is all just an opinion, but one in which I believe is worth making several different characters who don't do everything in one playthrough. To me, that's the point of roleplaying.

I can understand how that would expand the replay value and such. I myself am just not that into roleplaying. I love RPG's but not because of the whole roleplaying element, but because of the enormous amount of content in good RPG's like the Elder Scroll and Fallout series.

Everybody plays differently, and that's not a problem. I have done this in Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas...to an extent (although not on every character), but I have not done it in Skyrim. I just don't see what I get out of it these days. I'm more into the roleplaying aspect of it now, I think I picked that up from New Vegas. I tend to only do what I feel my character would, given his/her personality, beliefs, and abilities based on the previously mentioned.

Skyrim: 1250+
New Vegas: Close to 3K

Though that really only happens with characters I create that I can actually get into and keep myself entertained long enough without switching and perfecting the build every 2 mins.

Hmm. Do not remember if it was my second or third character, but I think my tops was around 250-300. Early characters were deleted, hence retired (and live happily ever after, for better or worse).

I do understand the appeal of being a jack of all trades, but I find a greater cool feeling in having each character being an expert at a certain combat style.

My current character, Kaidan, is a level 81 Nord ranger, with 480+ hours played. By the time that I'm done with him, he'll have over 500 hours. Most perks are in combat, with the rest in speech, alchemy, destruction and enchanting.

Kaidan has completed all of the guilds, along with the main quest, civil war, Dawnguard and fully upgraded Lakeview Manor. Atm, he is working on Dragonborn, and after that, he'll probably go try to "clear" any remaining dungeons that can be cleared and do whatever else there is left to do as an adventurer who's pretty much done it all.

106 on my Imperial Assassin, which was my 1st main character in the game.

92 with my Nord Assassin during my 1st run of the Legendary edition.

All other playthroughs usually average 25-50 hours before I get bored or I get the character too OP. Maybe I should just stick with playing assassins. :D
