Most horrid support I have ever experienced, I am screwed

Post » Sat Mar 29, 2014 10:01 am

Long story short...

Bought IMP Edition from Gamefly weeks ago. Was given a Key for early access BUT NOT for Imp Edition. Contacted GF support, they told me I would be given another key closer to release. This sounded like BS, so I called Bethesda, they said the same thing? I am 46 years old and have been playing games since the killing of "creeping coins",(you youngsters just google that mob, don't ask) I have never even heard of getting multiple keys, sent at separate times, for the same game version.

So I waited... Early access is in less then 2 days, I have contacted both GF and Bethesda in the past few days and have received NO RESPONSE.(Can't call Bethesda, they removed their phone number from website for support, filled out a ticket for support to call me, that was ignored)

I have searched both sites for support to try and answer this question, THERE IS NONE. The closest thing I found was a statement saying that you will have to enter the key in your boxed version to maintain your Imp edition. I WILL NOT BE GETTING A BOXED EDITION, THEREFORE I WILL NOT HAVE A KEY...

P.S. When all is said and done, this was a nightmare, no reason that I had to spend this amount of time trying to fix a problem that I did not even cause and there is no posted solution for. Excited for early access? Hell no, enjoy a game for 5 days and then lose all the Imp edition benefits because I don't have a key...

Sounds like Gamefly gave you the wrong code not ZOS.

Second code is suppose to be for the digital copy which they should still send by the sounds. It does NOT have to be from a physical edition. I myself have to enter another code yet which I have not received and only bought digital.

Seems like the prob lies at Gamefly... I don't think Beth has st to do with this matter... I bought directly from Beth to avoid this kind of stuff, no probs so far... And the official support is obviously a bit buisy these days before EA... ^^

This is normal. All the players who ordered from GMG also have not received their Imperial edition key. However, the 5-days early access key will give you access to all the Imperial stuff. You only need to enter the key for Imperial edition within 2 days after launch (so 6 April) to retain those benefits. The game key should be provided at launch.

One way to make sure that you will get the Imperial bonus in EA is going to https://account.elderscrollsonline.com/ and check under "Billing History". If it says "5 days early access", then you are all set.

This is why I buy directly from the developer when possible.

That does svck. It sounds like it's a GF issue vs a Zenimax issue - so you'll probably need to continue to pester them. That said - and purely out of curiosity - why didn't you just buy direct from Zenimax?

Come to think of: why not simply buy it again direct from Zenimax - as in right now - and then return the other one to GF explaining that they did not deliver what they promised. While I'm no lawyer, I suspect the law's on your side and you could conceivably demand a refund.

From what I understand the first key is for early access. If you bought it from gamefly and have 5 days early access then you have the imperial edition and will have the race and horse and so on. When the game is actually released they will send you the actual game key which will activate your full account. This key has to be put in within the 48 hour grace period to keep your imperial bonuses. I don't think anyone with the physical or digital versions have their actual game key yet.

have you logged into your ESO account and checked the billing history area? It should say "5 days early access" if you purchased the Imp digital edition and received an early access code.

To be honest, this has been normal practice for the past few years when it comes to digital purchases. The game key is always provided at launch, but sometimes an early access key may be provided earlier.

If you order from a 3rd company, they must send u 2 keys... 1 for the early access and 1 included in ur boxed edition. So its normal to send u 2.

Like others have said, you will be sent the 2nd key much closer to 4/4/14. They can't give you the key, even if they had it, until they are allowed to (ie. just before or just after launch, specified by Zenimax).

I disagree with you all. To me It sounds like most of you are not familiar with how digital pre-orders work.

GF already told the TC that he would be given another key closer to release. That is not BS. That is common practice. It has been this way for a very long time, the only exception being Steam keys where pre-loading may be available. However, digital pre-orders always only give you the key on release or slightly before release (i.e. 2-3 days for Steam keys). I guess you should have voiced your worries in a clearer way to GF support. I imagine that they thought their practice is common knowledge, and I highly doubt that they would have thought TC would suspect their sincerity.

I know exactly how it works. I also know that you don't always get the code when you are supposed to or even get the right code (seriously, it happens every MMO launch). It is always safer to just buy from the developer.

Provide non-hearsay references. Which MMO launches, how many suffered the problem, and does that have any relevance to how digital pre-orders operate on a large scale?

It's not safer to buy from the developer, since there is a huge difference between pre-purchase and pre-order. You can always cancel pre-orders; the law is on your side. You can't necessarily cancel pre-purchases; it's the seller's discretion to allow or deny it. Besides, Zenimax hasn't been exactly respectable in their pricing policies for ESO. Zenimax's store copies of ESO for European and Oceanic players (charge us Euro as well due to greed) are almost twice as expensive compared to very reputable 3rd party offers (i.e. GMG). Asking someone to simply "buy from official store" is both irresponsible and unhelpful.

Feel free to disagree.

OP was angry and wants to be sure he isn't screwed; cancel first order and reorder from the source to be sure. Easy-peasy.

And its always simpler to just buy from the source i've found, ESPECIALLY when making e-purchases.

It's not so easy when it's the difference between $110 and $64. It's not helpful to fuel someone's fear out of ignorance. It's much more useful to provide information on how digital purchases operate, or simply stay silent.

People have give the answer. Seems like you just didn't like the answer so now you are flaming others for trying to help.

Bottom line here is, if you ordered the game from a 3rd party retailer you will get 2 codes. First code will be to give you early access, second code is the retail code to verify your purchase. 1st code you get soon after ordering, 2nd code you get closer to launch or even on launch day or very soon after. There its that simple, now relax and stop freaking out on people trying to help.

-> Go to elderscrollsonline.com

-> Click support

-> type "early access"

-> Click first entry

Now, call me [censored] but does this not suggest that you will get your imp access code on the actual release date??? Calm down dude. I order from a third party site too and they told me the exact same thing: early access code now, imp code on release date.

GhoXen is quite right.
