Well? What do you think?

Once in daggerfall i was walking around, and I heard this, "HAHA" screaming type thing... I kept on walking then i started hearing "hault hault"

I went to go check it out and there was a major glitch, I swear i saw a witch like vampire, That was funny because the gaurds are soooo stupid and stuff, but i killed it instead, CRAZY Glitch, No surpise with Daggerfall...

The very first time I came out of Privateer's Hold over a decade ago, I fast traveled to Daggerfall, waited 2+ minutes for the loading, and then became amazed by the sheer size of the city. After walking around a bit in awe, looking at everything and listening to the music, I went to a store and sold my stuff I didn't use.

Well? What do you think?

- "VENGEAAAANCE!"

- The first time I was scared to death when I was in a dungeon

- The first time I became guildmaster

- The first time I realized how freaking big the gameworld was

- The first time I became a vampire

- The first time I took a loan in Betony Bank (in the demo back in '96) and never repaid it

- The first time (quite recently) I gave a look at the section "about the game" in the first dunegon-only demo (this, however, turned out to be a major disappointment, since many of those features were dropped during the development).

... and probably a lot more

P.S: Yeah, I got a lot of "first times" there :P

I think it may have been the first time I became a vampire in Daggerfall and was depressed, shocked, and horrified by how ugly my once beautiful Khajiit had become! Even if I wanted to be a vampire, no way did I want to play with a char that looked like that!

Wandering out of the cell in arena and getting murdered by a rat.

First time I encountered a snowy day in Arena. The snow gently falling, Heberling's almost too-perfect melody accompanying...I can still see and hear it. My favorite gaming moment ever.

I will never forget the first time that Barenziah pressed her tender lips against mine.

The rest of Tamriel won't forget when she did that to them, either. Ho ho ho!

I remember back in the time when DF was still current, my sister wanted to play. But all she wanted to do was collect clothes and books. When she needed money, usually by doing mages guild quests, I'd have to turn off my Genesis and do the quest for her, because she was too afraid of the dungeons. I was the big brother there to protect my little sis from the scary things. :toughninja:

I also remember making one of the big desert cities my adopted hometown. Every time I would get caught stealing in it, I'd climb on top of one of the flat apartment buildings, then run and jump across rooftops and ally ways until they dropped the chase. That's why I was kind of dissapointed in MW's and OB's lack of high-end locomotion options in a crisis.

Oh wait, I remember why I made the city my hometown. It was my launching point for my quest to find one of the great Wyrms. I never found anything, but it was fun.

(And yes, I now understand that they don't exist in the game, but I was alot younger then and I assumed that a game as huge as DF would have to have them, since after I found the Underking, I assumed all of the rumors people told had a basis in fact.)

I think that I have posted about this before, but it was quite a while ago.

I had about four quests open that spawned various mobs that were hunting me. I was also at the point in the Main Quest line that the powers that be that didn't like me were sending assassins after me. So I had at least seven different groups spawning attackers. I withdrew to my ship, not to hide from them, but to control their access.

The battle was epic! Orcs, Daedra, and multiple groups of various humans were popping up as fast as I could kill them. I went through over 300 arrows, expended prodigious magical energies, swung my sword until I was close to exhaustion. With several breaks, I kept this fight up for about four or five hours of real time. That was such a blast, but I am not certain that I will be repeating the trial anytime soon.

When I first played the game, and was also much younger, I would talk to the wandering NPCs and they would say things like "By the Cliffs of Solitude, just what I need!" And I remember trying to find these Cliffs of Solitude (or Frozen Wastes, or Sea of whatever, etc.), because I wanted to help that person find whatever it was they needed. Didn't realize then that it was just an expression, and not the most welcoming one. Ah well.

James, when you snag an assassin-sending quest like that, do they ever stop coming? I mean, of course they do after you finish the quest or give them what they want, but are there any that will never stop sending people after you? I think it'd be interesting to be hunted the entire game. That, and think of the loot!

They time out, after a month (game time) or so. But I doubt that anyone could sustain that level of activity for that long. One would need a large supply of Restore Power and other rejuvenating potions, as well as plenty of durable weapons, arrows and armor. The ability to move very quickly from area to area would also be needed, and would be tested severely (the free teleport from high rank in the mage's guild and a ship would both be required).

There are several of these progressive quests. I think that if one tried, it would be possible to keep one or another active throughout much of the life of a Daggerfall character. If you were to try it continuously, I think that it would become more of a burn-out problem. Some of those enemies can spawn anywhere. Even with a character with a ton of health and magika, exhaustion will pose it's own problems.

Level 5 of Battlespire was awesome. The abandoned village, balloon, boats, waterfall, fort, and the mad guy who was damned in eternity for screwing around with Mehrunes Dagon. Old man Chimera, I think he was. Plus the Hunt. So much more awesomeness than in Bloodmoon. Of course, the hunter was invulnerable and you were the prey.

Frosty, you are the man.

Or, er, your character was.

The jury is still out on you.

I would say, Finishing my first three hour Daggerfall dungeon quest was the most memorable, after thinking I would never EVER be able find my way back out alive (no recall) When I finally did get out, it was snowing with the snow song playing... :) A perfect ending.

Meeting my first Skeleton Warrior in Daggerfall. From Arena I was expecting bones rattling and a fairly easy battle, little did I know that they're tougher, in the first dungeon, and they have a shriek like a banshee.

Finding my first piece of Daedric (greaves) in Daggerfall after fighting a vampire ancient in a mage-on-mage duel was pretty epic. Realizing that my character couldn't wear them and still move fast enough to dodge spells at the same time was not, however.

On that note, how in the Seven Hells of Ah-Jeroth do they manage to make that unholy sound? They don't even have a larynx, for Mhoram's sake.

I first arrived in the city of Daggerfall at night and found the gates locked tight. While trying to scale the walls with my pitiful climbing skill, I constantly slid back to the ground where I was assaulted by wraiths and horrified by demonic calls for vengeance. Panic just doesn't cover the emotion I felt at the time.

Interkarma
Holy Liches, you're alive!

I posted this a long time ago, and I can't find it - But here is the general gist - Daggerfall city, night, a criminal, jumping from roof to roof from the walls to my house. Getting there so I could rest, then leaving and jumping from roof to roof to exit the city. The most thrilling and breathtaking experience I've had in a game. Especially considering I lacked any levitation, had a poor jump/climbing skill and was slow from being full of good ol'loot.

Then there was the fireballs...

It's the tortured screams of their soul, filtered through the cosmos and erupting from their body with unholy energy. Or something like that.

This is now the canon answer to any questions concerning skele-screams. 'Cause I said so. Oh, the mournful and terrible wailing of the (un)deceased...

I'm disappointed no one commented on my Thomas Covenant references.

Back on topic:

Wabbajacking a bunch of Assassins trying to kill the guy I was escorting was pretty cool. Right up until about half of them turned into Daedra Lords.
That ended badly. Really badly.

"VENGEAAANCE" of course ... along with hearing my first 'skeleton scream' and first time getting my butt handed to me on a silver platter by a Seducer. Good times, at least now when I can laugh about them :)

Also for Battlespire, the first time running into a 'no return!' area. I was locked in and it said something like 'the good news is you're still alive, the bad news is you can't escape, the good news is ...' I can't remember the rest. Pretty funny, in a weird sorta way.

In Arena, when I was looking for a shop. I thought I had the one and tried opening the door. It was the wrong door, and was locked. Next thing I know there was about 3 warriors cutting me up. Then I died and could not be bothered to play, because I forgot to save! (This was fresh out of the prison).
