Most powerful weapon type?

Post » Sun Aug 14, 2011 3:11 pm

I am looking to start another new game, but I'm a bit lost on which weapon I should choose to specialize in for the first part of the game. I understand that there are extremely powerful weapons later on it in the game, but I'm talking about the first part of the game, and unenchanted weapons in general.

Which weapon type is the post powerful, for the baseline damage? No enchants. Just to give me a starting point on what to train first, before I start to focus totally on enchanted stuff, and end game weapons.

I plan on being a High Elf, so there will not be any racial bonuses in play. I am also using the "Use best attack" toggle.

Thanks in advance. :)

Daedric battle axe with 80 base damage or bound battle axe might be better for a high elf, same damage plus a 10pt axe skill bonus.

Not what the OP was asking.

Its not so much the weapon but your weapon skill. Any shordsword is effective if you have the skill.

Just pick the weapon you want to be good with (long/short blade, axe, spear etc..) as a major, and use that exclusively. The weapon type, especially the low end types like chiltin or iron are more or less equal.. as long as you make level 50 in your chosen weapon, you are usually guarenteed a hit. Iron and steel are fine for this. The only material I tend to avoid is chiltin... more for its appearance than weak damage.
