Most Puzzling Question

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 10:41 pm

My greatest curiosity of morrowind would have to have been the dissapearance of the dwarfes.
How many times have you sat there not even thinking about your level 60 and ll of a sudden well they could have just all died,
or maybe destroyed who knows ...

I just wanted to know what your ideas were on this matter :)

I have a feeling this belongs in the spoiler section. As for the TC's question...I never really think about it until I'm on a message board or reading a book in-game.

It belongs right where it is.

As for an answer, this is pretty well accepted among us regulars. http://www.imperial-library.info/fsg/luagararticle1.shtml

I wouldn't say that, especially since the author of that very article admits he needs to reevaluate his stance.

My theory is that they went back in time and founded thier own civilization, but that's just me.

It is nonetheless an excellent "1-2-3" summary of everything you need to know about the disappearance of the Dwemer, in a logical Western format, as opposed to the irascible Zen koans entertained in the lore forum.

Whether or not the conclusion is perfectly accurate or needs to be rethought still leaves delicious room for further consideration.

Besides, it's the shortest form I could think of that touches the broad nature of such a topic. And he's not looking for everyone's thoughts and feelings on the subject. He's looking for (generally) the facts.

That's abit of an overstatement, and the end product of them being in the Numidium is the same either way. There is no specific fault in the article and there are even a few other sources that I could have pulled in and cited that would have further supported the theory (such as the 36 Sermons), I just didn't for the sake of conciseness and general simpleness, though granted it would have explained a few minor details such as why the endeavor dealt mostly with their spirits.

What I mentioned previously about re-evaluating the article however was in terms of technicalities with their original mindset and with the symbolism behind their goals. The article is still correct in what it states, there's just the possibility of different frame of reference which I hadn't come across at that time - and its more of a half-thought-through fancy of mine than something extremely solid.
