I figured I'd start a new thread...as no one else had.
I figured I'd start a new thread...as no one else had.
I wish I could say, "I've discovered it all!" but can not
There are so many places I have yet to venture to, quests I have yet to do, and choices I have yet to make. Some I will "never" see, like the Dark Brotherhood questline to completion.
I should start a "completionist" character to just go where I have yet to go
I didn't find that.... possible. I can squeeze through the TG questline - but I can't do the DB (other than wipe them out....) I can't do various of the Daedra questlines.
Goody goody two-shoes - that's me. Works for me!
It's actually somewhat liberating to do such a playthru if it's not something you normally would do. I'm usually a good hearted player in these games but my latest character is a cold-hearted [censored] of the first order and one that has no qualms about killing for money or any other reason that strikes her fancy. When starting the DB questline and you get the option to choose which victim to kill, let's just say she was a bit of an overachiever.
What's interesting for this game is that I've heard several lines of dialogue I never have before simply because I would never have chosen the correct triggering response line in previous games for the more goody goody characters. I haven't had this much fun in Skyrim in some time.
I tried that. I didn't find it - liberating. I didn't even find it doable - the first contract.... Nope. Can't do it. I don't care if I miss half the game.
Yea, that's me in a nutshell
The Thieves Guild... I only stole when told to But beating up Mercer was fun.
Yes, that first contract in the DB was as far as I got. I did do "most" of the daedric quests on one character, just to see. Quite a few of them I will never do again
Yeah, I will even console complete some of the TG stuff to get to the really fun part! None of the DB was fun, and now for daedra I only do Meridia, Azura, and Clavicus Vile - because sticking him with Barbas is so satisfying after doing some questing with that dog, and I sure don't need that axe....
TG is my home away from home and favorite quest arc in Skyrim. It's not that I go around stealing everything that's not nailed down, I just like most of the people there and the changes that happen to the guild itself. Have yet to play a lawful good character in Skyrim because I just can't resist joining them.
Kinda cheaty, there.
I like the Daedric quests in Skyrim because they get goody good characters (What I myself tend to play) dirty. I like the moral qualms that come with Molag Bal's or Nameria's quest where a helpful nature can be a hindrance.
In any event, while it's not a recent discovery, between Dawnstar and Winterhold there is a lone statue of Talos staring out towards the Sea of Ghosts. This position's the statue away from both the shrine of Talos at its base, but also facing away from the Statue of Azura which is visible in the distance. Always been fascinating by that statue and the significance of its positioning (Since the placement of the Shrine makes it so Talos has his back to worshipers).
I learned that a great way to level Restoration is to cast healing while standing on one of those dungeon floors with the fire jets.
(The blade traps work well too)
Can't believe it took me this long to figure it out.
And if your character is a bit touched in the head, you can RP it as the character remaking himself - reborn from the ashes like a phoenix
Aww - very sad - my 'sticky' horse got killed. To summarize from the original http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1531224-most-recent-things-youve-discovered-8/page-6#entry24738326 my PC found an abandoned horse at a camp way north, on the coast of the Sea of Ghosts. She rode the horse to WIndhelm and after dismounting, it started to trot away as all un-owned or stolen horses do. The next time my PC traveled by carriage, the horse showed up again! My PC could ride it to wherever and then have to walk back to town (which was fine).
Sadly, after finding King Olaf's verse in Deadman's Respite, my PC started to walk back to Solitude only to find the horse dead on the trail. I don't know what killedit but I always hoped the horse would be safe as soon as my PC left the cell.
Definitely not going to use an un-owned horse again to avoid repeating this situation. I hate it when they get killed, especially alone without help (sometimes you can just jump on a horse and ride it away from a fight it can't win).
My latest Bard got into Solitude, just in time for Roggvir's beheading. I thought I'd try to lighten the mood with a little Lute music, so I traipsed up the stairs. That did not go well...
The Captain at the top of the stairs told me to "Back off!" I ignored his command and paid dearly for that. Before I even got my lute in front of me to play, I died. A few more tries at different points of the execution and found that only after it was done did they allow me onto that stage!
I've interrupted the execution by accident as well with similarly unhappy results. I think I tried to harvest hanging moss or something, but since I play with the sound muted, I didn't catch the warning. Next thing I know... load screen!
They are touchy about their executions in Solitude, aren't they!?
Yeah, my very first playthrough I thought I'd try to stop the execution......did not go over well either! LOL
Hiya S_o_E - in case you haven't been welcomed yet... Welcome to the Forums! Have a fishystick: http://images.uesp.net/c/c4/Fishystick.jpg (it's a tradition)
Pretty lucky the vampire didn't attack your PC! Did you also see his thralls? Sometimes when a bad guy locks onto some other target, it's a great chance for your PC to get in close and practice one-handed, two-handed etc. without fear of taking damage.
Was looking through novelty gifts online and found an instructional kit for picking locks - real locks in the real world - complete with lockpicks! I don't want to post a link, but search for 'Lockpick School in a Box' if you like. Only comes with five lockpicks, though, I'll have to find some khajiit traders to get another 35 or so...
For the time ever in my Skyrim game, I visited Half-Moon Mill and actually saw Hulda's Hubby! I had heard others speak of him, but never before saw him. Then, as I was leaving, there was an actual Falkreath Guard walking about the steading. All the other times I had visited, it was just Hulda all on her own, even in her house.
I think so. Not a great shot, but here they are: http://postimg.org/image/3luvxrhtp/. He sure sounded like one going on about "Anothert visitor..." in a creepy way
Yesterday I discover something I find to be useful, especially when you're in a nordic barrow ruin e.g Bleak Falls Barrow and need to unlock a locked door with a dragon claw.
Find this dragon claw in your inventory then select and down hold the same key for the status of your character and click with your mouse to zoom the selected item, and that makes it easier to see what symbols the actual dragon claw has.
