Most Satisfying Weapon

I would suggest not telling a modern combat shotgunner that their weapon is "archaic".

Because in fact shotguns are an incredibly useful thing to have. With buckshot they are a well proven one shot manstopper on unarmored enemies, and then you can use slugs, rifled slugs, and saboted slugs to extend your reach. Then you can put in neoprene shot or foam slugs, or CS gas, for riot control. And when a door gets in your way pop in a frangible breaching round and let fly. In alternative timelines presumably they have practical flechette and explosive/incendiary rounds too.

Shotgun isn't obsolete. It's a swiss army weapon. Simple smoothbore delivery system to solve whatever problem it is you're having.

I never use em'. Well at the start a bit. I don't use em' anywhere and Fallout is not my prime game by a long shot. I don't use em' in Stalker where there are many fine shottys. It's a hunting weapon for killing birds.

Bring your shotty, I'll kill you long before you are in range. Run out of ammo, a real assault rifle, Stalker style, reloads 30 rounds in a couple of seconds. A shotgun is going to take a quite while and there will only be a few rounds when you are done.

If the world is not too dangerous, FNV, shot guns can be fun. In a dangerous place they just get you killed. I die once in a while in FNV but I don't think a shotgun has ever been the cause. hardcoe very hard. Anything less is ridiculous.

Oh and never VATS. Good lord.

Worlds like STALKER's and Fallout's are places where shotguns would tend to be more useful. They're full of creatures that are of such incredible mass and speed that using handgun and assault rifle rounds against them would "realistically" be futile. A lot of those critters also rush you, which is something you wouldn't typically have to worry about in a real life situations where rational human beings either run away or hide behind an object and shoot at you with their own guns.

I picked off a bunch of Cazador's with my marksman carbine today, felt pretty good, the marksman carbine is a pretty satisfying weapon, I do enjoy semi-automatics in Fallout :gun:.

I rarely ever use shotguns, mainly because I'm a melee/unarmed man, I see no need. Although I did use the riot shotgun+shotgun perks on my NCR run-through fun fun fun. sorry I had to quote you it would be silly if i didn't

I prefer bombarding them with an Incinerator. You know, them running in circles trying to find me, while on fire...

The Missile Launcher loaded with HE missiles.

Big ba-da-boom.

EXTREMELY satisfying. Especially when blowing up a group of Cazadores or Radscorpions.

Haha yeah, i remember seeing a few cazadors in the distance firing my modded missile launcher
and getting 350 exp. :celebration:
EXTREMELY satisfying indeed.

Do you have any idea how hard a standard NATO round hits? A 5.56x45mm bullet packs quite a punch, 30 of em' is devastating. With standard rifles at 600 to 800 RPM the actual amount of firepower is quite amazing.

I can take a Stalker Chimera in the open with either a shotgun or one of my babies, 5.45mm Groza OC 10 or perhaps a G36. It's much more fun with a rifle, quicker and safer too.

There are no really nice guns in FNV but I have probably been spoiled. I get by with what's available, it's not really a fighting game.

Less hard than a 12 gauge magnum slug.

but the AA-12 beats them both :gun:

*sigh*

I love the AA-12. I would love to see one added to the game. With frag shells.

Or maybe just give us frag shells for the Riot Shotgun... that would be an acceptable option!

But I'm sure people would just complain it was too powerful and beg a nerf

Ah well. A man can dream.

I don't know of many hunters who go hunting black bears with 5.56x45mm rifles. Why do you think this is?

.308 hunting rifle with all three mods and loaded with JSP rounds. Not the best, yet is the most satisfying.

Yup it's a good bear hunting weapon. You don't think an assault rifle will just destroy a bear?

As I said shotguns are hunting weapons, actually for birds was what I said. Fine, but I'm not hunting in any of the games. I'm surviving attacks from various sources as I go about my business. A much different experience. I get 'friend to animals' as soon as I can.

Again a shotgun is for hunting. I never hunt so I don't use em'.

My full auto skills are atrophying fast in FNV. I like to use just enough bullets to kill and no more.

I have black bears all around me. I live deep in the BC bush. I have named several. They are wonderful creatures.

You don't PM so ... :

You could not put a decent modern assault rifle, modeled at all accurately, into the game. It would be really hard to balance.

The piece my avatar carries, scoped, very accurate with an under-barrel grenade launcher would be so superior to everything else it would be a joke. Full auto Ratslayer++, 30 round mag, with grenades on tap.

I do understand it's an RPG. It's the only one I play, it and F3, because they do FPS. Not all that well but good enough to let the story and plot come through. I do enjoy both games. Well done.

Obviously you haven't read .46ACP's post; needless to say, Marksmen Carbine is modeled quite accurately as a modern 5.56mm assault rifle, bar a brust/automatic capability and maybe a minor DT bypass.

As for the a tactical AK (can't really tell because avatar is too small), it simply wouldn't be as accurate as bolt-action.

I really like my Hunting Revolver, I made a character that used 1 revolver at a time, no rifles, no autoloaders, revolvers. Hand Loader and Cowboy > all. I used the Hunting Revolver for everything, it is durable enough for .45-70 SWC and accurate enough for sniping, i dont use crosshairs but i got really good at firing accuratly from the hip without a crosshair, it makes it feel really good to get a headshot without any help in aiming.

Hunting Revolver is the ultimate tool, Short Range, Long Range, Mid Range, the Hunting Revolver does it all with stunning efficiency, my compliments to whoever designed it, it is the omni-tool if one handles it right, I have seen videos of people talking down on it because they svck at using it, trying to fire it as fast as possible from the hip, then complaining when the miss, but I know better, it is the kinda gun that will do what you want, when you want, if you know what you're doing.

My favorite pistol is Ranger Sequoia. It's very powerful and sometimes I missed the target with V.T.A.S.

Another favorite shotgun is Riot Shotgun or Dinner Bell. With Riot Shotgun, it's easy break enemy's armor.

IMO, Hunting Revolver > Ranger Sequoia, it makes up for the (slight, so slight that it is negligable) lower DAM with stunning versatility.

Ranger Sequoia have less spread and barely more AP to fire (if you like quick draw), and I find the scope on hunting revolver pretty bad.

I think the Hunting Rifle would be the most satisfying weapon, IF the sights were somewhat aligned and not so damn blocky. If there was a unique variant, I would never stop using it.

Really feels like the Karbiner 98 Kurz, doesn't it?
