Most scary moment..

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 9:50 am

I know this had been created before, i go first :)

I was sitting in pitch black, headphones and volume rather high.. Doing a dungeon, somehow when i play warrior i dont look for traps as much as when i sneak around.. Anyway in the middle of a dungeon i heard this metal "clonk" sound and i seriously jumped and my heart raised abit, until i realised i tipped over a shovel to the floor..

Hmm...all those times I think I hear a roar or the ground shake and expect to see a dragon or giant, and there's none around?

Knocking shovels I can understand. My companions and I are the noisiest people in Skyrim. Bonus points go to the follower if I'm in sneak when he decides to make some horrific noise. Thanks, dude.

A common startling moment for me is finding my follower's torch in my face when I move my camera. "Augh, man! Move it aside!" The first time, I didn't realize that's what I was seeing and thought it was some horrible monster or spell.

I was on the mountains near orphan rock and had just killed some wisps... then a Wispmother's screech of fury at the death of her sons made me jump out of my seat.

Being in a dungeon, exploring all the draugr dead bodies in the catacombs, to hear one screech that was no more then a few feet away. made me jump atleast 2 feet off my couch.

Almost same as OP...I was sneaking amoungst the tombs somewhere, in the pitch dark (shader dark night mod that requires you to pull out the torch more often)....but my stealth character doesn't like torches, but I knew there was treasure in the dark somewhere cause I was bumping into it...equipped torch and was staring into the face of a Draugr Deathlord. I had to quit for the night.

I haven't jumped in this game, but in Oblivion, I was trying to sneak past some guards, and one of them sat down at a table, and all of the stuff on the table, food, plates, tankards, went flying up in the air and clanking all around. I about messed my britches.

there was a moment early on in the game during a quest in the dungeons where the Draugrs were getting on my nerves, and not in an annoying way. I mean they were creeping me out. Now ... they don't bother me. Nothing since has really given me really scary moments. I have been surprised many a times but not scared.

When I reached level 20 on my mage and realized destruction didn't scale and there was no spell-making altar.

Doing some quest with a dog and it kept trying to push me off a cliff.
Pressing 'c' for auto move and falling off a cliff.
Not scary really and you can just reload but scrambling for the 'c' button to cancel and missing is a bummer.

The lighthouse horror story quest. The clicking and rattling in the walls, along with not actually finding the charrus for a bit with except to one dead one and the intro story added via journals. That was the first time I ran into charrus, and it was definitely scary, plus they were damn hard. Second would be the Daedric lord's house quest, that wasn't so much scary as it was surprising, but still gave a jolt when everything went all poltergeist on me.

@OP: Oh god, that happened to me too! Anyone ever have that while having a tiny bit of debris fall on your head from above? That, in combo with the minor damage you take, in a dark room, with no other music playing... Scared the hell out of me.

About to enter a snowy cave and 3 cave bears charge at me at the same time and just bulldoze me and my companion into the ground. nothing can prepare you for that.

Holy crap I'll never forget when saw my first dragon priest, at the time I had no clue try even exsisted. I had just finished filling an elder dragon fill of arrows, I thought the battle was done, no enemy's around, I can finally relax for minute. Then Krosis rose from a huge mountain ledge and sent this ball of flames that scared the heck out of me. He was way harder to beat then that dragon. I was rewarded very nicely though. I won't say anymore just incase if anyone hasn't experienced a dragon priest. It was epic and very scary all together. The scenery was very dark and creepy also.

Hehe I can top that, because I just found Krosis earlier today. Never seen or even knew what a dragon priest was. I am lvl 14, just finished killing a dragon and all of a sudden he is just tearing me apart! unfortunately I'm really only melee, so it took me at least half an hour of kiting and LOS'ing him, run up, "Fus!" get in two swings, run away heal, wait for magic to regen.. omg took seriously forever. those places should have a warning level, "do not approach until at least lvl 20" or something lol.

I screamed like a litltle girl because when I opened this innocent little door in a cavern somewhere on my grand adventures of Skyrim, being a pure and kind hearted battle mage of the land. This pure evil creature of Satan decided to jump right at me as the doors opened which i've never had a spider in the game do before, and my mild case arachnophobia doesn't help either. I have my FRAPs screenshot button assigned to a side button my MX518 mouse which I accidently hit in my panic/scream, so this is actually the exact moment what I saw and turned from a 31 year old male to a frightened 10 year old girl along with my voice octave.

Oh I can't believe I forgot traps.

Usually at night I'll have my headphones on(very loud) and I'll be sneaking around caves a s dungeon corners, next thing you know I spiked metal wall slams into me or log comes swinging down and gets me right in the gut while bolders are released on top of me. It always just scares me so much. I would neve pick that perk that makes it so you don't activate pressure plates for the traps. Even being scary it's still very fun.
