Most stable Fallout yet

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 6:53 pm

I know that some people have had issues but from a reliability point of view, Fallout 4 has been the best yet.

I've not had a single crash or stutter, and I get consistently good frame rates (despite Nvidia GeForce Experience claiming that my system doesn't meet the minimum specs!)

I have obviously seen the odd bug, there are certainly some graphics issues with clipping, but all in all it's a pretty good experience.

I have left the game running for days, just pausing to menu and alt-tabbing out when I've something else to do (like sleep!)

One thing I have noticed when starting up is that Steam seems to be doing a lot of updating of the game, although there's not been an announcement of any product updates? Dunno what that's about...

On PS4 I haven't experienced any major bugs, and only one minor one that I can think of. I've also experienced maybe 2 CTD and both times I had an app running in the background. Seen a few texture issues, usually kind of breaking through another but so damn minor I just ignore it.

So as someone who has been through Oblivion, Skyrim, and Fallout 3 (and Fallout: New Vegas 7 months after release...yes, i know it was Obsidian, just saying) all on PS3...I'm very very very pleasantly surprised and happy about how stable this game has been on the console.

Corrupt Saves are rampant in Fallout 4.

I've broke the game so many times already, gotten multiple crashes.

Then again I broke the game within 5 minutes of gametime by using the console to disable nora, and shaun.

i have had no issues other than having to play on borderless windowed mode

my load screens are about 10 sec giv or take

i can leave game on all day, coming and going as i please, leave paused through the night, do the same the next day with no crashes

i think i had a crash to desktop once a while back, can't remember why

so far for me it's been by far my most stable bethesda experience, and that includes going back to morrowind on xbox xD

For consoles point of view this is the most stable version so far. Fo3 crashed on my xbox 360 about once every hour. For a games console that's terrible. I have yet to see a crash on the ps4 version of fo4.

But.... M'y savez file is increasing in size every day at around 20mb right now so it will not be long before it starts to crash due to save file bloating.

This game has been like a breath of fresh air after playing FO:NV on XBOX360...it froze in the opening loading screen nearly every time I tried to play, froze in half the loading screens when entering or leaving a location, stuttered constantly and had multiple issues with broken quests/NPCs and graphics oddities.

In FO4 on XboxOne, so far nothing I have encountered has been too bad (more bugs than there should be, but better than before!). A couple frame rate stutters once in a while when I am in downtown Boston. One disappeared pip boy, which reappeared after I saved and then restarted the game. Two instances of unresponsive companions which required a save reload (but I didn't lose any game play because after FO:NV, I have a habit of saving any time I finish a battle, prior to entering a new location, prior to leaving a location, prior to conversations, after conversations). One time I fell through and got stuck under a guard tower in workshop mode for a few minutes. None of this has been gamebreaking, and not NEARLY as frustrating as the FO:NV glitches. I haven't played more than an hour or so of FO3, will be playing that after I'm done with FO4 in a couple months, I'm sure it will be weird to go back and will help me appreciate FO4 even more.

Haven't seen this happen and also haven't really noticed people complaining about it. Also a good thing the game autosaves practically 10 times an hour. So luckily, that's even less of a concern for most people.

I've had about 4 freezes in 190 hours. Its on par with modded skyrim, which for an initial release is brilliant by my standards.

Source for this statement, please. The vast majority of people I've seen discussing the stability of FO4 have been overwhelmingly positive, not just pc, but ALL platforms have reported that this is quite probably Bethesda's most stable release yet.

If you've got problems running the game, then by all means, you ought to get them out in the open and discuss them, but remember one thing, you'll get better help by posting your issues in a constructive manner.

EDIT: Just shy of 70 hours playing time on pc and only one freeze. No crashes.

FYI: While my rig meets minimum requirements, it falls just shy of recommended requirements. I'm still running with most everything maxed out, with most of the bells and whistles enabled, and still have very few issues.
