most of the NPC's started attacking me out of the blue

Hey guys,

I did search for similar topics but couldnt find anything. Out of the blue I noticed that some NPC's (for example everyone in the Whiterum's palace (apart from guards), my quest NPC's) started attacking me, no matter if I am armed or not (even if not armour no weapons). This totally ruined my game, I play on xbox. Can't load a save, because first I thought restart would help and then continued clearing out some dungeons and now all my save games are compromised.

Did anyone encounter this issue and how did you deal with it?..

Check your Active Effects, it looks like you turned into a vampire without you knowing. And a vampire that does not feed, looks too distinctive, so NPC's will immediately recognize you as one.

Are you a vampire? Are you a storm cloak? Are you a werewolf?

EDIT: Try going to your house and taking a shower, that helped me.

Thanks for replies!

I am a warewolf, not a member of stormcloaks, and never killed any cows (if a chicken is small might have done it by mistake?). My char is a 20lv Orc.

Fleeingfish > I have a house in Whiterun, but don't suppose you were serious about the shower, were you?..

You don't deny being a vampire, though.

ok, I didn't figure this out, but continued venturing around Skyrim and it sorted out itself. No one attacks me now. However when that was happening, I was definitely not a vampire and didn't have any weird active things on me, clearly a bug of some sorts! thanks everyone.

You can't be a Vampire at the same time as being a Werewolf, as Weres got 100% disease resist.
Becoming one while being a vampire actually cures Sanguinnare Vampiris.

Theres a chance that you might have set off some alarms when you turned into a werewolf, especially if you did it publicly or with *anyone* watching. And by anyone, I include crime-reporting, bugged, animals.
