Most uniquememorable anonymous NPC

Post » Wed Dec 04, 2013 3:31 pm

By anonymous NPC, I mean the NPCs not quite important enough to actually have a name and have little to no unique dialog, but all the same, they're memorable because there actually aren't any random non-hostile NPCs in New Vegas, so every NPC has the same face and mannerism every time.

A lot of NPCs come to mind for me.

The farmers of Goodsprings (one of which is actually Jerry McGhoulBerry in AlChestBreach's mod reviews)

The guy at the barstool in Goodsprings with the hat.

A random NCR trooper in Camp Golf who can be talked to but has no dialog.

The Vagrant (ironically has a unique title but is of no importance whatsoever)

The King's messenger who just LOVES giving you stuff

A female prospector with long hair found near the Helios ONE's side exit of Scorpion Gulch, often found dead.

I just find it kind of cool that random NPCs with seemingly no personality whatsoever can develop a personality just by being recognized doing the same thing in each playthrough.

So what random NPCs do you actually remember or have in some way developed a personality for you?

The NCR trooper in the monorail station in the Strip who you can talk to about the Strip. Only one I can remember offhand.

Dunno his name, but the drunk incoherent guy in Freeside near the Mick and Ralph shop cracks me up.

I also love the generic Chairmen, no idea why.

The Trooper that you meet the first time you enter the strip and is puking his guts out.

Hah, yes, I'd forgotten about him/her. If it's a girl, I find it funnier since IMO she does it better than male does.

There's a certain woman in the Strip. No idea what she looks like, but she's among the shocked crowd that gathers after you exit the Lucky 38 for the first time. Among the stunned whispers, she says "He/she's kind of cute."

It's nice to know that no matter what kind of Courier you have, one (hopefully sober) woman will find him/her attractive.

There was Ranger Andy I feel like he was an overlooked or sometimes forgotten character, there is also No-Bark he was nutty. There was also the girl that sold snacks and drinks on the Strip I liked her. The guy in the Tops that took your guns from you and said they would be as safe as kittens, and last but not least every of my fellow Legionnaires and there random spews of hatred, like "Degenerates like you belong on a cross." and "Hold your tongue wastrel".and my favorite "Ave True to Caesar." Its like the Fallout equivalent of "I used to be an adventurer like you but then I took an arrow to the knee." Those are all that I can think of off the top of my head.

Sincerely,

Prizrak
