Most Useful And Most Useless Perks.........

Post » Fri Aug 05, 2011 4:50 am

the award for most useless perk has to be junk rounds. what a waste of space that was. for the most useful perk i would say strong back since im always within 20 pounds of my limit. i play on hardcoe so ammo has weight as well.

I believe the most useless perk for NV was simply Swift Learner..that perk wasn't even useful in F3, and for what? you waste a perk slot for +10% experience gain you can get from SLEEPING -_-.

most useful to me (as an Explosive character) was Splash Damage hands down. for an overall character, I say Heavyweight, or Strong back when it comes to maintenence, as well as Pack Rat for hardcoe mode. these 3 perks are probably what you should get hands down.

I don't think any of the perks are completely useless (more or less), it depends on how your playing, and if you'r an meele, unarmed, or whatever character you are

What i DO think is kinda useless and i would have the opportunity to skip is the traits. There is NO trait what so ever, that dosn't have a bad side :glare:

Some people say Bloody Mess is useless but it is fun to take at higher levels when everything is said and done and your just screwing around. Most useful... I'm really not sure..

That is the point of traits, and you actually can skip traits.

Useless perks:
Here and Now. King of the useless perks. Robs you of a perk in the long run, total waste of time.
Mister Sandman. Good for RP only, with a half-decent build you should be able to sneak attack critical any sleeping enemies you come across.
Infiltrator/Computer Whizz. You really shouldn't need these. Just cancel the attempt and try again if you're struggling rather than waste perks.
Rad Resistance. RadX and RadAway are everywhere, radiation itself isn't ubiquitous enough to become a problem. Unnecessary.
Friend of the Night. Just take some Cateye or turn the brightness up. The game isn't dark enough to warrant this perk.
Mile in their Shoes. The benefits (+1 PER, +5 Sneak and +5 Poison Resistance) after consuming Nightstalker Squeezin' really isn't worth wasting a perk slot.

Useful perks really depends on your build, but the standouts:
Better Criticals. King of the useful perks. Any build benefits from this.
Comprehension. Another one where any build benefits.
Educated. And another. Everyone loves more skill points. Take it ASAP.
Strong Back. Good for the looting, don't have to build up the otherwise fairly useless Barter skill.
Piercing Strikes. Turns the Unarmed Courier into a Deathclaw.
Jury Rigging. For obvious reasons, makes the Repair skill much more versatile. Every Courier needs to keep their gear in good shape.

Long Haul is an amazing perk. Nothing beats fast travelling with 937/300 pounds of equipment.

Must take a long time to gather that weight (I mean without you have those items all in front of you)...except if you're into killing BoS ofcourse.

I think Jury Rigging, piercing strike, Long Haul, better criticals has to be up there.

Useless ones: Infiltrator, Ninja, Computer whiz, Here and Now, Swift Learner.

It is, or was, http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Ninja There's a mod to fix it though, if you're on PC of course. Can't remember if they fixed it in a patch.

I can't remember the name but the perk that gives you half or less rads when eating or drinking. After loading a game, I find that it doesn't work so when drinking out of a sink, lets say it gives you 10 rads, so with the perk and after quitting and restarting the game, you still get 10 rads from drinking instead of the 5 that you are suppose to.

Not sure if this was fixed in a patch or not for the 360 (wich I play on) but never taken it again.

I find that a stupid perk to be honest. Take RAD resistance perk and or RAD child instead.

Lead Belly perk, yes that is what it was called. I will keep that in mind Defour, about Rad Resistance and or Rad Child. :)

Btw, your name is almost like how my name is pronounced. :D

Ninja is still bugged, even after the patch.

though! if it were fixed

Piercing Strike + Ninja x Better Criticals = Ungodly damage.. with oh baby!, Thermic Lance, or Ballistic Fist sneak attack would do unheard of damage.

a Ballistic fist could do what? Roughly around 500+ Damage?

Most useful: Jury Rigging, Shotgun Surgeon, And Stay Back, Monocite Breeder, Solar Powered. These are the only perks I need, everything else is a bonus.

Most useless: Here And Now, Hand Loader, Vigilant Recycler, Educated. I've never crafted my own ammo because I find looking for ingredients (Survival included) tedious.
